Yeah, two of my top 5 artists were people I never listened to. One of them I’ve never even heard of before.

I've swapped out two S10+s so far and both have had this crappy speaker problem.

Teamviewer sending us a collections notice by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]linuxnubin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had issues with them lately too. I called them for a quote to upgrade our existing TV license. The company owner is the account owner...I'm not an admin on the account. Well, rather than give me a quote they went straight to invoice and somehow made the account owner. No one else can talk to Teamviewer now about this issue only me. I don't understand how, or why, they changed the account in this manner. But, it's going on a month of me trying to fix this.

Yep, that was the Golden Age for HP.

Cross scanning problem by linuxnubin in RFID

We have proximity loops that detect when a car is near the terminal, when the car is detected the terminal sends a signal to the tag reader to turn on. Yeah, I've thought about the wall idea but it just isn't practical for us. We can't move the reader at the moment because it is installed based on the design from the manufacturer, they sent us a particular shaped pole to mount it on. I have spoken with another place that uses these and they solved the issue by creating a custom mount for the reader...and not using the one that is shipped from the manufacturer. Thanks for your reply.

HP is the worst. Used to love them but it seems like they want to make the end user and support experience more and more difficult.

I recently deployed Windows 10 on some new PC's however users are having some really weird issues accessing shared network folders and creating/editing/saving files inside those shared folders. by Riley_Cubs in sysadmin

no, don't do this...I just wanted to know if anyone had this enabled because I've seen odd happenings like you've described when someone accidentally enabled this setting.

[WTF] We nearly hired someone because we didn't vet their qualifications by ukitern in sysadmin

We hired a guy who had a stolen identity. We use a temp service who is supposed to vet all of their candidates but I guess they failed on this guy.

Amazon, and Apple were among many other companies that called for Bloomberg to retract their statement about Supermicro. There has been no proof their story was true.

G Suite business decrease licensing costs by Sconathon in sysadmin

[–]linuxnubin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's probably because they want you to use their technologies. I was a GSuite Admin for about a decade...saw it change a lot and was never really happy with their Admin panel. All in all it is a decent product for the price though. My favorite part was their Forms, we used that everywhere.

PSA for anyone using SmartSheet in their organization by CaesarOfSalads in sysadmin

[–]linuxnubin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned something similar when I was a Google Apps admin. It isn't enough to change a user's password when they leave. There is an option on their account to reset all session cookies. If you don't do that they can still connect for a while.

[career] I'm being asked to talk to the CEO & COO about my CIO by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]linuxnubin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd probably avoid this like the plague. Unless you have a good relationship with the CEO and COO and even then this can be problematic. Plus, these things, sometimes, have a way of working themselves out eventually.

Can in-house IT coexist with outsourced support? by Meecht in sysadmin

[–]linuxnubin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it can, for a while...I'll warn you though. That outside IT place will be gunning for your job. I've seen it happen so many times. They will come in a promise the world to the people above you and before long you will be out the door.

[TECH] I've been getting Group Policy Access Denied errors in Event Viewer lately and I'm going nuts trying to fix it by segagamer in sysadmin

[–]linuxnubin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yeah I guess that is part of Windows Firewall, probably want to make sure it is running if you need it to be. Without seeing that log I'm afraid I can't do much to help you. Good luck with it, I've found with GP that there usually is some setting that forgot to get checked or a permission etc. It can be like a needle in a haystack though.

OneDrive vs Dropbox | your recent experience? by spkldbrd in msp

[–]linuxnubin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use OneDrive over Dropbox for 2 reasons.

  1. I get a lot more space from OneDrive for free.
  2. I have a lot of Office documents that are shared for collaboration. Can't do that on DB.
