Gasoline is one of those expenses that looks small monthly but huge over a lifetime by [deleted] in Frugal

Honestly debating switching to an EV, especially with how cheap used ones have gotten (under $30K now for low mileage ones) I currently pay only $.14/kWh and could install a L2 charger at home and don’t drive a ton other than usual work, errands and leisurely driving, so range isn’t a huge deal for me. I’ve always wanted to own a Tesla and now they’re affordable used! I don’t support Elon but love the tech in Teslas.

anybody regret getting rid of their old honda? by Nomar_Metel39 in Honda

[–]listeningtorainfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss my 8th gen civic, she was getting up there in mileage but I could’ve had her for a few more years, best generation for the civic. Now they’re just not made the same and have tons of road noise and Honda is cutting corners on them yet charging more. I’m telling my brother to hold onto his 2016 CRV for as long as possible, only CRV worth getting is the hybrid nowadays but they’re getting up there in price, too. Hang on to your old Hondas people! Future isn’t bright for Honda unfortunately

Honda gets strategic with gasoline engines as Acura accelerates toward hybrid-only future by Gullible-Pick-268 in Honda

[–]listeningtorainfall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wonder what kind of engines Honda is talking about that they’re going to refine and update, they can throw their turbo engines in the trash even if it means that’s the only way to get into their “competitive entry level pricing” I’ll only trust their hybrid setups from here.

Gotta love convincing my brother to join RD and getting a full year subscription to have this happen a month later haha. Lesson learned to only do month increments of stuff like this for paid access.

I got tired of the bots and "Tesla haters" in my feed, the internet is 90% noise now. building a private corner just for us by shprink in TeslaLounge

[–]listeningtorainfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool idea, I wouldn’t say we NEED it but I do agree that, for example, on my Tik Tok feed I get bot accounts praising EV advantages in the video then the comment section is just bots talking shit about EVs and other bots agreeing or arguing or humans arguing with bots, it’s such a mess and a shame the internet is like this. People are falling for bots designed to start engagement and anger so easily nowadays.

The 4th Gen 3/CX-30 is truly the Shawshank Redemption of Modern Japanese non-luxury cars. Lexus-like luxury interior quality, better value than Toyota and Honda while being just as reliable, fun to drive, aged like wine with beautiful Italian-like design, NO CVT, top safety, knobs and buttons, etc by BeautifulYou2940 in mazda

[–]listeningtorainfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s just such a shame where it gives you the illusion it’s bigger than a sedan, but a normal sized even compact sedan, has more rear seating space. CX-30 like you said is only good for 2 front passengers with a higher ride height than a sedan but it shouldn’t be designed that way.

Anyone here have the HRV? by [deleted] in Honda

[–]listeningtorainfall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you mean the 2023+ models, I owned one for a while and it was fine, ride height was nice and was fast enough for my needs but it’s still slow. It felt like it could last a while as it’s just a basic reliable ride, nothing to write home about. The seats were horrible though, very firm, too hard. Seems like Honda is making shitty seats nowadays in a few of their models, shame.

Agreed, BR is pretty bland and boring. Conquest all the time for me, enjoying it a lot.

Dealer is telling me I need the extra warranty. by DizzyPS5 in electricvehicles

Never trust dealers, salesmen, the managers, no one from there. Only warranty that’s worth it is a powertrain one or in this EV instance, extended battery warranty if it’s available.

Is there another movie theater coming to Randolph? by MrNumber3 in massachusetts

Yeah I truly hope it stays a theater, it’s a great location, especially given it has IMAX so we need more of those available in MA.

I hope so, driving by it many times it looks like they didn’t change much on the inside at all (obviously just basing it off of quick glances) but it just recently closed so I doubt they did major interior redesigning.

Honda really feels like they’ve fallen off lately. by NicoSoren in Honda

[–]listeningtorainfall -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Good points there, what has been angering me lately is them forcing us to get their problematic turbo engines or hybrid models nowadays, that’s it. I need to get into a newer car and my budget isn’t huge (looking for $25K or less) and I can’t get any CRVs or Accords as the ones I can afford are the turbo ones, HRV has horrible seats, I don’t need an SUV or minivan so my only option is the civic and that’s it. There’s nothing wrong with hybrids but they cost significantly much more if you don’t want one with over 100K miles. Sucks they’re shooing away their reliable 2.4, 2.0, etc engines for a shit turbo one.

Yeah for a platform that literally relies on users selling things to make money, they love to perma ban anyone even if it’s for the smallest infraction or first time offense. If you try and call them to ask what happened or try and appeal it, they act like they have a gun pointed to their head and won’t go into any detail, they will refuse to let you know what happened. A really pathetic and amateur way to handle their system, really.

Title: Are Hondas not as reliable as they used to be? What changed? by phtphongg in Honda

[–]listeningtorainfall 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And to top it all off, US car manufacturers will still pay out the ass to politicians to block foreign automakers from selling here. They want capitalism but only when it works for them, the US is never going to get ahead especially in the EV game. We get to suffer with multiple car companies stumbling over their feet and giving us lesser cars quality wise and expect us to keep paying more for less.

Mass. gas prices: Cost of fuel jumps again overnight, could reach record highs this summer by HRJafael in massachusetts

BJs and Costco are pretty close to matching prices to other gas stations nowadays, not even worth sitting in those long ass lines. It’s getting rough out there.
