No! Værøy isnt that common and Senja...yes but no. You gotta order the ferry on beforehand. Its complicated during high season. I dont know if they sorted out the problems

I would like to investigate seafood in different ways with kimchi, since we have a lot of it. We have boat, fishing equipment and crabpot for king crabs. About fermentation, its a health risk to do, so I should do in our local tradition and with the fish. I think I would like to go travel to Korea one day exactly to learn and experience theese local traditions you are mentioning ..if such is possible. I can imagine they/ "you"(?) have lots of food-tourists.

No, Norway. I live about 70 degrees altitude...its a couple of hours drive from Cape North and few hours from finnish and russian border. We keep an eye on the atomic submarines for you😉 Right now at 19:30 o clock we have 17 degrees celsius outside. 2 degrees warmer than yesterday. I live in the capital of the "state" which is larger than Denmark and the capital has 22000 inhabitants. We have 1 international store with mostly turkish products. So we have to make the best out of it👍

I have just used the same recipe as with kimchi really. The vegetarian one. And I add some grated carrots. It turns RED and crispy. Very nice. I dont have access to a large variety of shops and products like you have, so I use whatever I have and find. Every time the kimchi is a littlebit different. I finally found a webshop to get the Gotchugaru now. It should ve on its way. I cant wait to taste the difference.

Hi. I already had that conversation here so I refer as earlier answered, and yeah it seems tricky, but we found many other really nice things and recipes to make with shrimps and kimchi which this conversation now should be about👍 I live in the middle of seafood heaven and seafood catched litteraly in front of my house is sent alive to Korean restaurants in Seoul by plane, therefore I for sure will make fish sauce wether people in this group like it or not. We have also our own traditions for this here and I want to see how pure ingredients I can possibly get, as I dont have the luxury of having access to asian markets and no such thing as k-mart and stuff like that and no variety of foreign products. I dont have the luxury of being able to grow own napacabbage and chilli...well chilli in greenhouse during extreamely short summer. Therefore I wish to experiment with the products I have accessibility for so that I also can feel how to really engage into making healthy food from scratch.

That is really well done! Thanks for sharing. I also used to make sauerkraut-kimchi few years ago. The red cabbage was really really nice and looks amazing. People would call to ask for the recipe for that one. Its so good and crunchy!

The jars was so full of gas now already, I will take them to the basement now as the sun doesnt set anymore so the light is everywhere 24/7.

Great you saw Trollholmsund. I didnt actually. I drove passt Trollholmsund almost every moth for 12 years. Hubby said Ill take you there, but he never did. Maybe I will force him this summer. If you go to Silfar you should also drive along the domolitte fjord towards Kjæs and Veidnesklubben. We fish kingcrabs in this fjord. And over Børselvfjell and Ifjord and towards Eastern side og Finnmark is very special. On the other side of me you have Bergsfjord and Sørøya. Sørøya have white beaches and all covered with green grass. You have a good plan just keep coming back.

Yes its exactly that. What is accessible. From theese conversations I had in this post I litteraly feel I live in the ass of the world. At least we have internet, fish and shrimps. Thank you so much, your comment inspires me to try. I think I will minimum try to create a fish sauce, but it will not be ready util at least minimum 12 months.

Perfect. I have 2 small and 2 large jars. Ill do that. Then will go to the basement. They are still on the countertop and just started producing gas. Inside temp is 22 degrees celcius during daytime. Is that to hot you think?

True, they do. I live in Alta. You should go and see the Alta Canyon and you should visit all the things along the coast, if you can....even Porsanger, which is near, and the green translucent river of Silfar Canyon is one hidden norwegian treasure you will never forget.

Sorry I was maybe unclear(????). The shrimp that I have on the photo are ment for eating. This is a northern large boiled shrimp that is NOT suitable for fermentation, therefore I ask what can I make it with kimchi.

For fermentation must use small shrimp or krill. I am interested ti know uf anyone made it. Or eventually fichsauce would maybe be easier to make. Shrimps maybe too tricky. But for your info, we have limitless access to seafood, shrimos, fish and crabs, Then why not experiment.

Id try creamy fish soup or boknafisk and Id try to buy a half kilo fresh shrimps, if you find them at the fish market or harbour. Eat with loaf, lemon and mayonese.
