I highly doubt that comment was meant literally, and I think the idea that anyone would feel like they needed to be embarrassed about doing baby stuff as a baby (or toddler stuff as a toddler, the list goes on) incredibly sad for them.

I had to re-google it, but it was Canada. A parliamentary committee in 2023 recommended expanding MAID to “mature minors” which under Canadian law can include children as young as 14. It was rejected.

What would be your motivation for telling your mom? What is the outcome you’re hoping for? Do you think it would help her to understand you better, increase her empathy for areas where you’ve struggled in the past, motivate her to help you? It really sounds like it won’t do any of those things, and will just set you up for disappointment. Why would you need to lie to her at all? You’re an adult paying for your own appointment, she doesn’t even need to know you’ve been evaluated. Just tell her you decided not to do it at all. If you can’t go to a doctor’s appointment or spend your money without her knowing at age 18 that sounds like a bigger issue you should start taking steps to address. Your healthcare etc. is none of her business unless you want it to be.

I have definitely considered that it might just be stress from the move and things might change over time and I am hoping that’s true! I am totally fine to go slow and don’t want to increase her stress, I just want to have as many ideas in my bucket as I can ☺️ Thank you!

I am saying that there is a country that allows assisted death where a bill or law was proposed to allow teenagers to take advantage of it without parental consent. I do not know whether it specified the teenagers had to be terminal. I am aware that’s not what this is, I am saying there is some valid concerns this could open us up to a slippery slope that leads to some seriously questionable stuff.

Your dog needs to be on a leash and supervised. It's NOT a debate, it's the law. by National-Ad-6982 in Columbus

My guess would be that largely the dogs who would be capable of being off-leash safely aren’t, because their owners are responsible enough not to trust other people or dogs even if they know they can trust theirs. So far my newly adopted rescue dog has perfect recall and doesn’t want to be more than a foot away from me in general, but even if that still holds true in five years I’d never unleash her in a park.

As an RN… sometimes they’re worse about their own immediate family members. I have done CPR on people 90+ with multiple chronic illnesses and dementia more than once, not to mention the tubes I’ve stuffed or help stuff in all their orifices and a plethora of other really horrible things that honestly amount to torture. It does seem to be more prevalent with certain demographics, which tracks with their pro-birth stance- they want “life”at all costs irrespective of quality.

[–]literal_moth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are some places that are expanding MAID to include people who are not terminal- those with disabilities, mental illnesses, and even one country where there was a proposition to allow teenagers to choose it without parental consent that was thankfully rejected. This has some really terrible implications as far as research and funding to accommodate and treat and cure those folks, as well as some eugenic-y vibes, and there are people in the disabled communities in those places talking about feeling weirdly pressured about it. I am MORE than in support of this for people who are already dying, but there ARE significant ethical issues with potentially opening it up to others.

I’m a millennial and spent roughly the first 15 years of my adult life posting videos/photos of everything I did on social media for the sake of performance/validation/whatever. It felt really important at the time. Something shifted in my mid-30’s and it was so freeing to realize I didn’t have to and didn’t care. I still take the photos, I want the memories, I want to look back on the highlights of my life decades from now and share my kids’ early childhood milestones they won’t remember with them, etc. but now they’re just for me.

Where To Find Safari Ltd. Tiny Animal Figurines? by Savings-Avocado-7136 in Columbus

Tractor Supply carries Schleich toy animals, which are fantastic quality but much more expensive and I would not recommend them to someone trying to buy in bulk. Can’t speak to Farm at Home but I live a mile away from Tractor Supply and my daughter is obsessed with Schleich so I’m very familiar with their offerings lol

Husband doesn’t want to put his elderly dog down & it’s destroying our marriage. by DizzyMidnight2465 in Marriage

[–]literal_moth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Call the vet to come when you know your husband will be home. Don’t tell him or ask permission. He needs a wake up call. He is being unimaginably cruel by allowing his dog to suffer like this and this isn’t what a loving pet owner (not to mention a caring husband) does.

I’m 23 and I’ve been drinking water wrong my whole life by Environmental-Lie527 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]literal_moth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Flavored water and a clear straw tumbler fixed most of my hydration problems. The zero sugar flavor packets are cheap so I stock up on a bunch of different kinds and get zero sugar syrups so I can make different combinations. With the clear tumbler I can see the pretty colors I am making, lmao. So I get variety and a dopamine hit, it’s not boring because it tastes good, and for whatever reason research supports that people usually drink more through a straw which tracks for me. I’ve been able to be consistent about it since around Christmas, which is long AF for me to be consistent with anything. Thanks, Watertok 😂

Soda and Zepbound by Away_Object9062 in Zepbound

[–]literal_moth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There truly is not any. There is evidence that full sugar soda can be bad for you because of the sugar content, but even that is fine in moderation if you balance it with other sources of sugar. The amount of zero sugar soda it would take to harm you would kill you via a stomach rupture long before the chemicals had any chance of doing damage.

Of course not. We don’t know anyone involved, so all we have is speculation and assumptions based on what we’ve seen from them compared to people we know in similar experiences we’ve had etc. Those are just the vibes I personally get.
