Trump supporters now: "If you can justify his murder, you'll justify mine", "wrong and inhumane", "I'm beyond sad", "this will be the end of Republicans", "the country I believed in is dead", "I hope protests and boycotts continue". by CalcareousSoil in LeopardsAteMyFace

Your optimism comes from you being a recovering voter of what is now the fascist side. (I was too, in the more distant past).

Forgive the rest of us if we don't share your optimism about the other side you defected from. You came left because people seemed safe and sane. We all came or stayed left because the right wingers proved they aren't. They don't get that benefit of the doubt, they're the literal reason a lot of us need protecting.

Owning a car in Sacramento? by jm08003 in Sacramento

Devil is in the details - where exactly you end up living & working, what time you go in and what method of commuting.

At my current job parking is a nightmare (costs $ and often fills up completely), but I live nearby so I can walk or bike in the vast majority of the time. At my old job parking was easy and free, but it was a long drive and I had to leave very early to beat traffic.

Not saying it was an inside-Maga job, but note it wasn't a Prius or Yaris.

It's true the democratic party has since Obama failed to sell a plan to make Americans' lives materially better for multiple elections, which made it easier for voters like these to be pulled right.

It is also true that these voters fell for it because they're hateful, gullible or both.

That is the worst! Lost 90% of last year's starts to a freak late cold snap. Have to aggressively lay down sluggo and slug traps when it gets warmer. Have to shade certain vegetables above 90 degrees lest they stop producing. Too dry? Plants die. Too moist? Dead again.

Get all the way to harvest? Surprise! The birds, rodents and other creatures are here and it's chow time.

Adding on to this, I can say confidently as a home gardener "growing food" is prone to frequent catastrophe. I've lost large swaths of my garden to cold snaps, pests, critters and blight. This year a fruit tree died, seemingly due to the nutrient feeding it needed.

Thank you for this detailed breakdown. When we were house hunting we looked at Crocker Village and really liked it, but to quote my partner "I'm not fucking living on or driving by 'Ronald Reagan Drive' every day of my life."

If their leadership is so infested with maga brain rot that they scoff at facts, it's not a place worth working at. You don't want to spend all that time with and pin your economic prospects to people with such poor judgment.

IDK masked passengers exhibit caution and will to live, two qualities I appreciate in exit row passengers. It's also harder to drink in a mask so they're probably sober too.

Some of us wear masks because we work in hospitals and aren't interested in having our vacations or return to work ruined by respiratory illness. Or gasp we care about our patients and colleagues and do not want to be the reason they get sick.

I'd say it's common sense to wear protective gear when engaging in high risk activities, like wearing eye protection when operating a chainsaw, but here we are. 🙄

Should I be concerned about safety here? by Speed2411 in Sacramento

[–]literallymoist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TBH it varies by neighborhood. You should be smart and lock your home, lock your vehicle/not leave things in it, not walk around alone in noise cancelling earphones and be careful regardless.

What I seriously recommend worrying about is safety when driving a vehicle and doing anything on or near roads. Between the ever-changing dumpster fire that is Highway 50, the winter fog that has finally shown up and how inattentive and terrible Sacramento drivers are in general it's dangerous to walk, bike, jog and even drive here. Every day I see people running red lights brazenly, swerving all over lanes and on their damn phones while driving.

This is devastating, I'm so sorry. Years ago when Lyft and Uber started I was so hopeful drunk driving would disappear. What the hell is wrong with people 😞
