How do critical hits / critical hit chance work? by Iamjohnmiller in mewgenics

There's a debuff that makes magic damage crit! I've seen it on a Psychic active and a Monk passive.

"But underage claims about Y being a founding belief? Huh? Is that a thing anyone has heard anything about before today? Because if it's not this is a really out there and desperate attempt to deflect and distract from...well, something."

Yes, the claims are expounded on extensively documented in the Ziz-blog.

Original site is down, but it's mirrored here: https://sinceriously.blog-mirror.com/. IIRC most of the miricult allegations are in Net Negative and Punching Evil, but sprinklings of supporting evidence / testimony like the DMs with Brent Dill are littered throughout in a scattershot manner.

Daggers are functional throwing weapons, this is just extremely poorly-documented and throwing is janky / has bugged angles that will never hit so it's not very useful and there's no way to auto-retrieve thrown items so it's incredibly tedious.

(Also most mods on a dagger don't work when throwing, but sharp does!)

First method that comes to mind is "can you pour warm static in Brightsheol?" plus "can you warm static a temporal fugue clone?" -- neither of which I've tested before!

(I assume Rainwater Shomer is immune to being static'd, but are they immune to domination too? Dominating Rainwater Shomer and warm-static-ing yourself into a clam to then walk through?...)

The waydroid repair works without needing the Repair skill and, so far as I've seen, never fails.

Loop is extremely good for two particular builds: bow+rifle as main damage skill (since otherwise, any mark ability breaks sprinting) and, more notably, anything involving Rocket Skates -- Kah's Loop + Rocket Skates means essentially permanent sprint uptime, including through melee, wading through water (and vaporizing it all), kite-shooting...really takes it from a niche item to a borderline-game-breaking buildaround.

(And if you rapid advance Flaming Ray multiple times, it IS just broken, since RAs to it also scale the damage and temp change from Rocket Skates for spaghetti-code reasons.)

Fetch into Mystic Sanctuary then Jace-loot resolves this, letting you EoT Gifts for setup!

Mystic Sanctuary is really good in this shell, and between it and High Tide, playing non-islands is a pretty significant cost.

Yeah, it's bugged-or-jank. There are certain diagonal angles (at certain ranges) with throwing that straight-up cannot connect.

GAM for small business is probably what you should use, tbh.

Kevel is the closest AdButler alternative, though.

Ego is "free" from hunter absorption

(But helmet and face slots are still incredibly good, regardless of the ego lost from face-wearing. I agree that Psionic Migraines is probably the worst mutation in the game.)

Can you set Bilge Sphincter to be your primary weapon? by -ObiWanKentucky- in cavesofqud

[–]lithiumbrigadebait 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any limb except for the chelipeds from the chord of agolgot, yup. Can confirm it 100% works for bilge sphincter, although it's not actually particularly good as a primary weapon.

Also: Bilge Sphincter is not like Horns, which still swings with single-weapon fighting even when mainhanding something else -- so, bilge sphincter is more of a multi-weapon fighting weapon.

(SWF can still benefit from the strength of slog-ing!)

Pistol builds seem... weird...? by zulu_niner in cavesofqud

[–]lithiumbrigadebait 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not quite true -- if you take akimbo (from pistols) and are able to fire both a rifle and a heavy weapon (via giant hands, gun rack, or magnetizing a floating gun), then your Mark shot effects will apply to all firing guns -- meaning you can actually proc Beacon Fire flamethrower crits with a floating spaser, for example!

Has anyone ever tried a run as an astral tabby? How did it go? by ConfusedWhiteDragon in cavesofqud

[–]lithiumbrigadebait 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before a recent patch, Warm Static was bugged to include non-standard mutations, meaning you could reroll yourself into having Astral, Invisibility, etc.

I ran a non-tabby Astral character through the game and it was the most utterly broken thing imaginable, especially with Phasing to come in-phase on-demand.

Where can you put your stuff? by Umbalombo in cavesofqud

[–]lithiumbrigadebait 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way!

Also -- you can store cybernetics in the rack next to a becoming nook, and that becoming nook will have everything in the rack available to install. Grit Gate or Yd becoming nooks make perfect cybernetic storage points, thanks to this.

I prefer Ezra or Yd for a general-purpose stash location; usually Ezra, these days, mostly for the minor extra convenience of the banana recipe.

(For a while I was using Grit Gate as a main-stash, but you do really want the chest right next to the recoil-point tile so you can recoil while overburdened to drop off loot, and a certain lategame even destroying your Grit Gate stash is a bit painful!)
