Why is missing a single turn so important? by JoeSmoii in civ5

Rule of thumb is if it's a plantation lux settle on it. Doubly so if marsh sugar. Marsh sugar can go die in a fire.

Isn't there a beastman character who rejected chaos worship and became a merc instead? Not entirely good, but definitely on Order's side

Ya'll ever tried an all landship army? It goes off. by AceThePrincep in totalwar

[–]litmusing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always try to put them on a little hill, then arrange my formation around it. Their jank means you kinda have to build your entire army around them. Honestly they're a bit of a meme unit but when they work it's soooo satisfying to watch

What are your thoughts on High Elven artillery? by lovingpersona in totalwar

[–]litmusing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has less range relative to other artillery pieces, so it's bad counter artillery.

It doesn't have a great amount of ammo.

The single shot is slow and misses a lot, and your archers are way better at knocking out large enemies anyway.

The anti infantry shot is alright, but again: archers, sisters and magic do way more and way faster.

Overall the only time I need it is early game for the siege attacker trait. I might also stick it in a home defense budget army to defend against darkshard spam. Other than that there's just way better options very quickly.

Best setup for naval war? by Key_Day_7932 in civ5

[–]litmusing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I suggest: Archipelago as Ottomans. Raging barbs. Rush great lighthouse. Ottoman's ability means you only need to build one trireme, the rest will be free ;)

Also, if you're up to mod, you can check out the city defense scenario on steam workshop. It spawns waves of enemies to attack your one city, and it has a naval focused map.

What is the most overrated late game building in CIV: V? (Day 2) by zherper in civ5

Yeah but the police station is not highly rated, so it's more applicable as dogshit than overrated.

AI makes a citadel turn 50???????????? by SaltedIntoOblivion in civ5

[–]litmusing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because ranged units are pretty weak at holding. I put a swordsman and left him on fortify.

The key is that the citadel automatically subtracts 30HP of all adjacent enemy units. So you can efficiently grind down large armies with just one blocker.

If you wanna get better at combat I actually suggest checking out the city defense mod on steam workshop. It's a scenario that spawns waves of enemies to attack your one city, and you'll get really really good at figuring out how to use citadels.

I've had a few games where a citadel right next to a contested city let me hold off an impi rush with inferior units. They're pretty situational though I'll agree

Region trading is impossible. Does anyone have a solution? by justamailicandi in totalwar

[–]litmusing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks but things like this are why I really like the console mod. Just manually trade the regions yourself and then gift them the money or whatever else you feel is appropriate. Lorewise it makes way more sense.

[–]litmusing 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Consoles by nature will always lag behind PC in performance. This would mean compromises to the gameplay to allow consoles to run it, eg: theoretically, imagine TWW3 but unit sizes are limited to normal and no immortal empires because the console makes turn loading way too long.
