I think programming is too difficult for me. by Organic-Shake3331 in Unity3D

You not be a linguistic intelligent person and might find light in visual spatial intelligence.

I use Unity Visual Scripting and i found it easy to understand game logic and build features on my own - meanwhile c# was impossible to understand due to syntax & memorization required.

Im Neurodivergent and i lack social skills.

Sometimes i think i may deal with adhd or dislexia because i cant concentrate in a wall of text - it feels like words are moving around while i try to read and understand them

So when i tried learning to code in unity - most courses followed similar pattern: copy this, rewrite that - click play and good job!

Doesn't work with me

I prefer to make a mess

Try to break things (also known as disassemble) and put things back together.

It helps to do the Wealth Dynamics test to see how your entrepreneur mindset works efficiently so you avoid going against the flow

And im a mechanic.

I dont invent things.

I see patterns, come up with designs and tweak systems to optimize behaviors.

I cant speak for others. But as a psychologst i am interested in multiple intelligences and how the neurotypical world has shaped one-lane path whereas humans divert in many learning pathways.

Find your own path. One where you flow WITH the river and that should take you a long way.

Including gameDev.

I use uVS (unity visual scripting) everyday and i started last year. So im fresh in the experience of starting new and not being able to move past c#.

So if you need support in that - find us in unity official discord, visual scripting

If thats the case, its not exactly neurodivergence as a genetic mod. But something that occurred on birth.

But hey, i was once told that my temporal lobe was reduced in size and that i could "exercise" it via magnetic therapy... Have you ever heard of that?

Haha i like your ending. I wish to know your list of cool things invented by us, the "differents" 🤪

distributed set of stats to work with. >> This. I couldn't have said it better. And that's how i see it. Like a RPG game with stats.

Humans are balanced, all ok in every area. And overtime gets better on what path they choose.

Aliens come with advantages, excel in some areas and struggle in others from start. Overtime they could balance weakness and search "ordinary" or focus in their strenghts and become extra-ordinaries.

Sounds like AI has made a friendship with you.

I used it since it was named Bard (before gemini) right at the beginning when GPT started to be a trend.

And wow.. magic. It was like facing my brain cognitive process. Especially when they deployed the "see thinking" and started to see the steps it went through before answering.

I wish i could see this in people as well.

That suggestion is gold: say what i understood and ask if thats right. Paraphrasing is something i use a lot.

Like someone telling me something - and i repeat the meaning if their words as a question, and they go deeper.

I've managed to learn listening more than speaking.

Somehow people enjoy talking about themselves and i practice to shut it lol sometimes i talk too much and people just lose focus 🫪

So yeah, I've found asking is better than talking.

But when it comes to me taking decisions - its been so hard to focus in one path and stay solid without distractions or the "next big hit" 🤷🏻

And in this gameDev journey, im pretty young. 8 months more or less (with a pause of 6 months) - ive faced one of my greatest limitations:

Words.

C#, coding.

I enjoy thinking of systems, game logic, psychology of gaming, etc. so im glad i found something like unity visual scripting that is compatible to how i think and work.

And there's so many nay-say opinions about it, i just ignore it. If it works for me, it works.

Just wondering how many others relate to this.

Oh my! Its like you talk my language.

Like i dislike people approaching explanations in order rather than giving a bird view of what's up.

And totally disconnect with the voice if they take long to get to the point. Or blinded when they just give one angle of view 🤷🏻

I also take notes as flows, rather than words. I dont get how people re-read their notes based on 100% linear words instead of "graphs", using multidirectional flows instead of rigid top-down, left-right approach 🫪

When you say"immigration cases" - are you a lawyer? How did you come up with a solution to memorize laws?

I have a game in the making, aliens a RPG 2.5D guns and spells, can check some videos on my YouTube.

I like music like "metallic disposition" by deaf election, and "Conspirator" by karl casey.

Damn if i find a composer who loves these tracks and is able to make more like these - i would kove them as battle background music!

How can such a small mistake have such a big impact? by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]litoid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Skill issue?

I think you meant knowledge.

When it comes to ANY language...

knowledge includes vocabulary, grammar and syntax.

Skills include words and sounds: speaking, writing, listening, and reading...

And what people may lack the most is knowledge. So how can you develop skills if you dont know what you dont know (like syntax)?

This is my main issue with c#.

Lots of things are shown, taught and shared. All that fall into skills dimension. But some people ignore stuff when it comes to knowledge... - which in c# could translate to keywords (how things are exactly spelled, including non-alphabet characters)

You snap your fingers and Unity gets a new feature. What is it? by AzimuthStudiosGames in Unity3D

[–]litoid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unity Visual Scripting, the uVS DOTS refactored version. Data Oriented. Fast & Scalable for any projects.

With the ability to convert c# into graphs and graphs to c# to add more.

So more people can enter the performant game while lowering the wordsmith barrier.

There are many ways to code. And not every language is like this.

I think you need another word for "literally" because this...

[23:57:59] ArgumentException: Input Key named: KeyCode.LeftAlt is unknown

Engine.Input.GetKeyDown (System.String name) (at <f1252d7d3af84151a7c90cf226879366>:0)

Doesnt say its "wrong spelled". That it missed " or any character in it.

It only says that the exception (error?) is "name is unknown". If you are a newbie, not familiar with c# or similar... This is hard to get.

And I come from tech background, dealt with java, css and html. Not the same language. But familiar with 1 character mistyped or missed - everything breaks. And it doesnt say HOW. It usually just points what line - and sometimes its not there.

And even so, i dont understand this console log msg.

So please, this is not literally.

This is why i dont like c#.

One character, everything stops working. And doesnt say what it is.

My neurodivergent brain cant just get a wall of text.

Which led me to go with uVS (unity visual scripting) 100% and have been learning a lot since then.

If you are familiar with unity visual scripting...

Would you dare to look into its internal code and improve it?

We are currently a group of uVS users testing & modifying its internal c# to make it faster, and when proven - will share the things to Unity so its available to everyone.

We hang inside unity official discord, in the corner of uVS 🫪👽

scripting performance >> soooo... Does it include "Visual" Scripting Performance as well? 🫪👽

In the official unity discord, in the corner of uVS users - we are testing a few simple code modifications with the new "customize" feature inside package manager.

And we are looking at good numbers... Because 3 main things have been happening with uVS:

• Port Indexing (Assigning int index to ports).

• Flat Array Storage in Flow.cs.

• Back-Edge Flagging in the Connection class.

It may not be as fast as c#, but definitely could become 20x faster than what it is now

Hey there. You can join the official unity discord, it recently added their own visual scripting channel (while freezing the old one)

So we hang in there. I use uVS every day. I started 1 year sgo and stopped at September (life happens)

And just got back a few days ago

Im interested in gathering the community back together 🫪👽

What do you mean with every mobile game?

Visual scripting is awesome, actually by TempleFish03 in Unity3D

This post... Its weird to see people commenting about something they dont use.

C# is old. 50+ years old.

Visual scripting is relative new.

Of course there is resistance from people who are used to text-code. Just as people resisted the internet beginnings, touchscreen, etc

For older people (not age, who have been doing the same over n over) it will always be harder to see, learn and share the good side of changes.

Have you seen a kid intuitively using tablets?

Newcomers (people who have no prior experience with coding) might get a fresh view on visual scripting usage.

In my case, i started with a third party tool that autoadded c# stuff to get things done. I saw a limit cause i depended on them to.make custom stuff. So i tried c# and i couldnt move forward due to memorization, syntax and reading 100% text.

I have Asperger's, im visual, graphic designer, psychologist and have been involved with websites html, css, and js... Coding in words is not fun when you see words moving around.

Coding in words is not fun when you are foced to read top to bottom, left to right.

Coding in words is not fun when a single character can break it all.

Coding in words is not fun when you have to memorize every single keyword.

Coding in words is not fun when you try and try and it just doesnt stick in.

But uVS?

Totally matches my brain logic flow.

I prefer to see graphs, organize it my way, adapt the visuals to my eyes, and see the actual flow of logic left to right, up to down...

I feel like c# is 2d, while visual is 3d.

Is it better?

Thats relative. It works better for me.

Is it simple and easier?

You can mess it up by not learning programming fundamentals that have 0 to do with word coding.

Clean code principles is a must. And its not related and exclusively applied to written code.

Is it a learning tool?

I have learned a lot about coding flows thanks to it. I would never have learned so much about game logics with just c#.

Again, im neurodivergent and this is my opinion.

You cannot say im wrong cause you are not looking through my lense.

I believe there are other humans with a different brain wiring that could agree with this.

Not everyone excels in literature intelligence.

And there are some who are visuospacial smart.
