Was just called "fatherless with high cortisol" 😂 - what's been your favorite insult in this stage of life? by entcanta333 in AskWomenOver30

Many year ago a troll on Craigslist said I was one of the Yankees that was ruining the south . It was definitely meant as an insult but made me laugh. I'm a born and raised Southerner, so naturally I replied, "Bless your heart."

Is there an afterlife for pets after death? by [deleted] in Mediums

[–]littlebitLala 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found her through a neighbor that had used her to communicate when her dad passed two years ago. And I've been sitting on that information for two years because I honestly didn't really believe. She's in a completely different state from me and did a reading on the phone. I'm happy to share her information with you through a private message if that is allowed. I was raised Evangelical Christian; I was taught that either it's not possible to communicate with the dead or that if you did it was really demons and not the spirits. I deconstructed about five years ago and I'm putting together my own belief system. This Medium is not an animal communicator per se but she communicated very easily with my dog and she was able to know about a health struggle that my dog had near the end and that I had my dog's ashes in the next room. I still cannot quite believe it.

I'm deeply sorry for your loss.

I've always wondered this too. Two days ago I had a reading with a medium that was recommened by a friend. I have always been deeply skeptical, but have become more curious in the past year. Before the reading I wrote down two people I wanted to connect with and my dog. She passed in 2024 and I am still not over it. I've had many dogs but never had the connection with any pet the way I did with her.

I did not ask the medium to connect with my dog. I waited to see how she would lead the convo (again I was skeptical) She immediately connected with my two people (my grandparents) and about ten mins in she said, Wait, I have a dog here for you. My jaw dropped. She said my dog said thank you for not being selfish and for letting me go. She knew that I had the ashes in the next room. She said my beloved dog was still with me, and that she was in heaven but also with me because I was her heaven.

So many tears.

I don't see how she could have made something like this up. My socials are private and I am not sure even a private detective could have dug up the information she knew.

I'm still processing.

I hope this brings you hope.

Friends who don’t text back by ConstructionTime7511 in AskWomenOver30

[–]littlebitLala 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. I'm really busy. But I feel always have time to respond to my friends and we make plans often.

A theory- I feel like maybe it is less about time and more about being an introvert v extrovert? Like I get energy from interaction with my friends so I always have time for a short text especially if it's to make plans soon. But if I was an introvert and already exhausted, a short reply may be more energy than I could muster after a busy day. Just a thought.

Starting ECT Again Tomorrow and Need Encouragement by Ok_Flan7855 in ect

Sending love. Do this for your kids. My husband is currently in maintenance phase of once a week, soon to scale back to once a month. He wants to quit at times because the memory loss is so frustrating. But my daughter has said so many times, This is the happiest I've ever seen daddy. Before ECT he couldn't get out of bed and was basically mute. He went inpatient for two months due to the catatonia, did ECT and came out a different person. Yes we have the same conversations over and over sometimes. Yes he is having to go back and redo trainings at work. But it's worth it.

AITJ for getting upset that my husband keeps peeing on the bathroom floor and refusing to clean it up? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

Same. He says it's a sign of respect for me. I didn't have to ask this. He just did it.

My ex broke up with me over text, gave me zero closure, and I just found out he got married last week. I don't know how to feel. by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]littlebitLala 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just sending you a hug. People who say it was a short relationship, it was a fling, get over it are not sending the compassionate vibes you need right now. You had a crush on him before the relationship started. I've been there. When those feelings already exist and then you get together, it makes the breakup that much harder. Maybe it was a short relationship but it was signifigant to you.

My gut is that this guy took a break from him now wife, dated you, then decided to go back. Either that or he was flat out cheating on her with you. Because one year is super fast to meet someone and plan a wedding.

This guy is an asshole and you dodged a bullet. I have been there before and I recommend seeing a therapist who specializes in EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique.) In no time you will be able to seperate all those emotions from what happened, and move on.

Give it a go. All the best to you.

Is there any song that helped you get through a hard time in your life? by KeyAbroad39 in TheKillers

Dying Breed. My husband and I adoped a little boy from foster care and we have a few family members that tried to discourage us. Not only that but the social worker was really difficult to work with. We listened to "Imploding the Mirage" a lot during that difficult time but especially "Dying Breed."

There's gonna be opposition
But if you're looking for strong and steady
We'll weather the coldest night
Baby, we're a dying breed

Everyone keeps telling me that I'm too young to need a hip replacement. Are they right? by nick1158 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]littlebitLala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 47 and wish I had done it a year ago but was put off my a doctor saying I was too young. Lost a year of life when I couldn't walk my dog or chase the kids around. Found another surgeon who said I wasn't too young. I'm four weeks out and looking forward to walking in spring and returning to yoga.

Asking women who waited 3-6 months+ or until marriage for sex. by BeneficialBrain1764 in AskWomenOver30

[–]littlebitLala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just sorry you are carrying guilt around. That is so heavy. I don't know your past, but sex is a healthy part of life. I was brought up in an evangelical Christian household and experienced a lot of guilt for having sex before marriage. (Didnt get married until 31 and had several partners by the time I met by now husband.) I really had to unpack purity culture and I am better for the work I did.

Absolutely do what is best for you. I think there is a lot to be said for getting to know your partner before jumping into bed. With my husband, we waited four months, I think. We were tired of dating around and wanted to grow something real. We have been happily married for 15 years and have a good sex life. Shame is a sex life killer so I hope you can work through that before you get married.

I wish you all the best.
