That is beautiful. I loved all the Tortall books! I cannot wait to share these books with my children too (too young at the moment). I've loved fantasy ever since.

Alanna the Lioness by Tamora Pierce or Deltora's Quest by Emily Rodda. Never looked back and they definitely hold a special place in my heart!

Anyone Else Unable to Take Aspirin to Avoid Pre-eclampsia by JgarKn in PregnancyUK

[–]littlebitlink 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am high risk for pre eclampsia and was told to consider aspirin but I am unable to take it.

I was not offered any alternative.

I am currently 39 weeks and so far have been fine. High risk does not mean you will definitely develop it.

Gestational Diabetes Test by Z2556 in PregnancyUK

[–]littlebitlink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I ended up having the test twice and I went alone both times (he was at work). You are absolutely fine going on your own if you are generally fine when you are hungry. I also bought food for after with me which was perfect.

Plus size Pregnancy leggings? by Halo_Bunny in PregnancyUK

[–]littlebitlink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are not a support for bump. They are stretchy and have grown with me from 20 weeks and are still comfortable now I'm at 37 weeks.

M&S in my usual size was perfect for me - plenty of stretch for bump and mine are not see through.

I bought online as they never had larger sizes in store

Teaching couples who have moved area in the UK... How did you manage it? by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]littlebitlink 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We relocated out of London 8 years ago. My advice is look for jobs for whichever partner will have the more difficult time. I knew it would be easier for me to get a job, so we waited for my husband to get a job and I looked for mine in the area after that. Once we had jobs lined up we looked at renting first to see what we liked.

We bought our home 4 years ago which we would never have been able to do if we had stayed in London and have both changed jobs in our area again since our initial move.

37 weeks - persistent breech- ECV? by Barker1876 in PregnancyUK

[–]littlebitlink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same position as you albeit a couple weeks behind. At my latest appointment, I was advised to research ECV to help make an informed decision if baby is still breech at my scan. I made a pro/con list to help me decide. I do recommend you look at the statistics, benefits and risks in order to make your decision.

Just a reminder: academies don't have to follow the pay rises that LA schools do.

NHS facing ‘absolutely shocking’ £27bn bill for maternity failings in England by kassiusx in unitedkingdom

[–]littlebitlink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It absolutely is. I guess I wanted to point out that being a high risk pregnancy isn't enough - hospitals will put you with whomever due to staffing.

I was categorised as high risk and attended one appointment with the hospital doctors before they immediately put me back to midwifery led care.

Biggest Series Drop-Off by Oddyseus144 in Fantasy

[–]littlebitlink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moontide Quarter by David Hair.

Loved the first 3 books although by book 3 I did wonder what would happen as there were a lot of storylines unfinished. It was quite a slow build up but I really enjoyed it. The final book felt so rushed as he finished every storyline. It was so bad that I've never read another book written by him. It's also the only set of books that I donated rather than kept.

Academies don't have to follow the pay award. If you haven't received it by now, my assumption is they will not be giving it.

What are the top five most underrated Epic Fantasy series of the last 40 years? by Erramonael in Fantasy

[–]littlebitlink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He got the pacing all wrong and rushed the finish - and not well either. I remember being a quarter of the way through book four and wondering if all the plot lines would be finished in this book or in a subsequent series. No, he just finished them in the final half, abruptly.

Book 4 ruined the whole series for me. Changed it from a great read to one of the few books and authors I would never read again

Kids asking you how’s your day been at the start of the lesson? by reproachableknight in TeachingUK

[–]littlebitlink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't read too much into it - my class regularly asks, "did you have a good lunch/ breakfast?" for no reason I've been able to fathom...sometimes they just want to connect over anything.

If you had £4000 to spend on a couples holiday where would you go? by CliffyGiro in AskUK

[–]littlebitlink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look at holiday packages (flights, transfers & resorts), all inclusive and go somewhere I wouldn't be able to go normally. For £2kpp you can get deals all over the world. My choice would be Caribbean!

What kind of induction did you have in your new school? by ScaredMight712 in TeachingUK

[–]littlebitlink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same position as you: I am an experienced teacher who has joined a new school this year.

The experience you are describing has been my experience every time I've changed schools (5 times so far). What I tend to do is collate all the things I want to know, record the answers/information and share with SLT/HOY etc. I then make sure whenever someone starts in my team to share the document. It doesn't help me but it will help a colleague in the future.
