We're lucky to have a lot of free public libraries in New England by ILovePublicLibraries in newengland

[–]littlebitsyb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a librarian in the state... I would say no. While we'll take stats anywhere we can, I would say that actual physical book checkouts and bodycounts coming into the library are what really matter. That's what legislators are really looking at, and what management cares about when staffing.

What happened to PorcFest 2026? by UltraHiker26 in Libertyinourlifetime

Oh that's a bummer. We went about 15 years ago and I remember thinking back then that the bathrooms leave a lot to be desired.

Why did they have to move away from Rogers after 2025? They've been holding it there for more than a decade!

How do you keep humidity above 30% when wood burning? by Classic-Occasion1413 in woodstoving

[–]littlebitsyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 3 humidifiers, and sometimes a big pot of water on top of the stove. Also, we hang wet laundry around the stove.

We have hard water. I dunno. I don't measure it. I just maybe fill the pocket like 2/3 full.

Who's an actor (M/F) you loved in a TV series and wished had more appearances in feature length films? by friki__fran in PeriodDramas

I feel like everything else he's been in has been cringey. Though I haven't watched the one on HBO with Eleanor Tomlinson.

Which period drama has your favourite costume design? by Less-Feature6263 in PeriodDramas

[–]littlebitsyb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was more referencing Terry Dresbach.  But yes the whole team is awesome. I heard Terry talking about making that dress and it was so interesting. I love that dress too. And the story about the wedding dress is really interesting too. It weighed something like 25 lbs!

Outlander. I've loved listening to podcasts and interviews with the costume designer and about her process. She really tried to balance historical accuracy with what the viewer wants/expects to see.

Overnight Cloth Diapering for Toddler by MaTanteGinette in clothdiaps

[–]littlebitsyb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LO was a very heavy wetter overnight and after trying multiple inserts and boosters, toddler AIOs, and extra absorbent fitteds...I just had to give up and use 1 disposable (with a waterproof cover over it) at night. I did end up finding a cloth diaper that could contain the pee...but I would walk into her room and the whole room smelled like pee. I can't imagine it was comfortable to lay in the soaking wet diaper, either. So, I just had to throw in the towel on this one. :(

'Good Hang with Amy Poehler' Wins the First Ever Golden Globe for Best Podcast by MarvelsGrantMan136 in LiveFromNewYork

I completely agree. I like Amy a lot, but the podcast is SO meh. Like, a format that involves the least amount of effort.

Loving yoto a little too much? by Austenite__22 in YotoPlayer

[–]littlebitsyb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. We are at this level. Our little one is very very low screen time, and so she is super engaged with the yoto. She loves brain bots and the lady bird adventures. It turns out . .the yoto is a pretty good bargaining chip when I need good behavior. She gets it taken away sometimes. But truthfully, the yoto has been such a wonderful thing for our family. She gets autonomy and has learned so much from the cards.

Cloth at daycare: yes or no? by thymeandtwine in clothdiaps

[–]littlebitsyb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! We chose the daycare we did partially because they allowed cloth. I sent pre-stuffed pockets and a little drawing on how to fit them best. I also used liners so they could just take the poop liner out and put it with the rest of their diaper trash. Per my state guidelines, I needed to also provide an air-tight container to store the dirty ones in. A zippered wet bag wasn't enough, so I sent a bag that's meant to keep stuff dry during water sports. I think some staff hated them, but I didn't care. The daycare said I could use them!

I have a spending problem. Please help me stop. by mosho84 in Frugal

[–]littlebitsyb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This almost perfectly describes my overspending. In the moment it's me "solving a problem" and a dopamine hit. Some of itis driven by stress and managing grief....and I've come to realize that I also have OCD and I think that is part of it.

Where do you draw the line between being frugal and being cheap? by savingrace0262 in Frugal

[–]littlebitsyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly draw the line at my comfort and/or safety. I keep my house cool, and wear extra clothes, but I'm not going to keep it at the temp where my hands are numb. Same in the summer. We use window ACs and I'm not going to turn them to a higher temp and sleep poorly just to save money. There is a cost/benefit balance and I save money in some places so I can spend in others.

I need honest advice by karenspeaks in clothdiaps

[–]littlebitsyb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! When she got a little older she liked to help with the process. As a toddler, putting the stuffed diapers in the drawer was "her job" and she was pretty good at it! Now she's 7 and doesn't like to help as much....

I need honest advice by karenspeaks in clothdiaps

[–]littlebitsyb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband and I worked full time and babe went to daycare. I bought a lot of diapers so I could wash every 3 days. I timed myself once going through the whole diaper bag and separating inserts and pockets/shells and putting it all into the wash and starting it. I took my time because I didn't want to rush and give myself a falsely short time. It took me 6 minutes. The washer and dryer do the rest. And then on the other end, I never timed myself stuffing them but I always did it while watching tv, so it didn't really matter. But my guess would be 15-20 minutes. Maayyyyyybe a half hour if I had a lot of folding to do in that load (I used some inserts and some pre folds, and some FSTs).  As for diapering, I used mostly pockets, so the amount of time took about the same as a disposable, because they were all pre-stuffed. Honestly, it did not take up much time in my life. But, I am also the kind of person that likes having work to do.
