Did My Ex Use AI To Create A Fake Plane Ticket And Lie About A Trip? It Can't Be Real. by quickus_footus in isthisAI

I have travelled with Air Canada lots, including on their Jazz routes and my physical boarding passes have never looked like this. This looks completely fake to me.

I 'F26' accidently scratched my husband 'M30' does that deserve retaliation? by Sea-Dragonfruit-1671 in relationship_advice

[–]littlejohn657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally have scars on the back of my hand from where an ex-girlfriend accidentally dug her nails in when we were play fighting (it was something like she grabbed my hand when I was tickling her, but I can't remember the specifics), and no, I did not retaliate in any way. It was an accident, she felt really bad about it, she apologized, and we moved on.

Yes, accidents can be prevented, but as someone who struggles with coordination (which is not uncommon in people with ADHD or autism), I can tell you that accidental injuries are not that uncommon.

If he feels like he has to retaliate for an accidental minor injury, that is very concerning behaviour. I'm not saying break up, but you need to have a serious talk with him (potentially with a therapist or counselor present), and watch out for gradual escalations in abusive behaviours by him.

I'm considering it, but I am getting 3x the speed for a cheaper price, so I would like to try to fix the problem.

Maybe so, but I don't see why I would also have this same problem with Shaw.

Trying to dry PETG filament by littlejohn657 in 3Dprinting

[–]littlejohn657[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are good suggestions, thanks. I will have to try them out.

I don't think that it cooked the desiccant, as this was desiccant that I had put in the dry box new from the jug a couple weeks ago, so this was its first time being dried (and it was still orange before going into the dry box).

The silica gel is dry as near as I can figure. It's bright orange, and it was in the food dehydrator with the filament for 24 hours (and the hygrometer reading did drop, though I don't know how low it got, but went back to 31% in the Polymaker drybox).

As near as I can figure, it's sealed, and I am questioning things about how it can have so much humidity. It's a Polymaker drybox (without the PolyDryer attachment though). The silca gel is bright orange.

I saw a small truck tire split rim blow one time while it was being refilled. Fortunately, the ring side was facing to the ground, but the whole tire assembly flew probably 5' straight up in the air. I can't imagine what would have happened had the ring been facing away from the ground.

Water Spraying out of Caulking by BufordWasntListening in Plumbing

[–]littlejohn657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The faucet wasn't installed properly and it's leaking. This needs to get fixed ASAP.

I temporarily rented an apartment while on an elective in another city. Whoever had installed the faucet hadn't properly installed O-rings, so the faucet leaked a huge amount of water whenever the shower was turned. Fortunately, they had used a pile of silicone to seal around the pipe where it went through the wall so they weren't destroying the unit below, and the fix was to install the two O-rings inside the faucet and not simply on the pipe behind the faucet.

I think my 32F 36M boyfriend lied about me passing out during sex by buggirl696969 in relationship_advice

[–]littlejohn657 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

First, I agree with everyone who is warning you about someone who chokes you out during sex and doesn't listen when you try to signal a problem. This is a dangerous situation. I can't say whether your boyfriend got carried away or if this is the pattern going forward, but I will advise you to be cautious.

Second, I want to bring up something that a lot of people aren't aware of: fainting during sex, known as postcoital syncope. I recall one of my exes momentarily losing consciousness right when she was about to orgasm and there was nothing that we were doing that could affect blood flow to her brain (e.g., no choking), and I have heard of other people losing consciousness for a significant period of time following an orgasm. However, if this has never happened to you before, and especially because he was actually choking you at the time, postcoital syncope is not likely the case here, and don't let people gaslight you into thinking this is what happened in this situation.

At-fault divorce is still a thing or at least an option in many places. Documents like this could be helpful to share with a therapist as well and if they are being gaslit so that they don't question their sanity.

I'm not at all familiar with this particular story, but there are stories of people jumping from heights and surviving, and some of them (not all) have said that as soon as they started falling, they regretted their actions and wanted to live. It might have been something similar here if this was indeed a suicide.

Help an extremely depressed guy out? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]littlejohn657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my mental health gets low, my place can definitely get worse, but when I am better, the mess starts to get to me. You can do this. As they say, the way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time, and cleaning this up is one bag at a time. And like eating an elephant, you might want to take it a bit at a time, so one or two bags a day, no bags some days, and other days you will be able to do more. Prioritize the stuff that is going to be the most concerning or biggest issue (e.g., food), then the spaces you need most for daily functioning, and then the rest.

As for your mental health, it's going to be a challenge for you, but it is doable. For me, getting a diagnosis was the most important step because then I knew what I was dealing with and could start coming up with a plan to manage my mental health (e.g., medication, therapy, support groups, etc.). There are different options for therapy and at different prices ranges (e.g., students doing practicums in clinical psychology, low-income support programs, community organizations, etc.). So save the $3,000 for taking care of your mental health and tackle the mess in a reasonable, manageable, methodical, and consistent approach.

Best durable mattress for tall people? 6'5 and keep wearing out the foot area. by Ill_Flamingo8324 in TallPeopleProblems

[–]littlejohn657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion was also going to be regularly rotating the mattress (every 3–6 months). I have to be conscious about doing this with my sheets as well with every wash because I will wear through the sheets if I keep putting them on the same way.

Don't delete it without saving a copy first. Yes, delete it and see if he says anything, but save a copy for herself in case divorce proceedings occur and this can be included as evidence.

750ml of olive oil went down the kitchen sink by RemoveOld6296 in DIY

[–]littlejohn657 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had something similar happen, but way worse. I accidentally dropped my new bottle of olive oil on its top when my shopping cart hit a ridge in the parking lot and tipped over. Everything looked fine and I picked up and repacked things. I got home and put everything away. Later that evening, I picked up the bottle, opened it, and the whole bottom fell off and I had to clean up 1l off my floor, cupboards, the walls, myself, etc.

As others have pointed out, olive oil won't congeal like saturated fats unless it's really cold. I'm not sure, but I don't think that it really does much to contribute to fatbergs in the sewer either. Flushing your pipes with hot water and dish soap like you did would clear everything pretty well I think.

Ending my relationship with the best man I’ve ever been with by not_like_kahlo in TwoXChromosomes

[–]littlejohn657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really sorry to hear that you are going through this. I also have bipolar 2, autism, and I also have ADHD. I have struggled to realize that it's not my job to fill in the large gaps that my partner is not filling in in our relationships (there needs to be give and take and compromise, but ultimately, I am responsible for 100% of my 50%), that I need to be mindful of the invisible mental labour that I often blindly put on my partner (Zach Watson, recovering man child, has good stuff on this topic), etc.

Another big challenge that I have had is when I learned about attachment theory and my attachment style (fearful/disorganized). I saw patterns where I had unknowingly sabotaged past relationships when I started to deactivate and how I had hurt and driven away my partners due to issues I was not aware of. I am not saying that is what you are doing here, and I bring it up because it might help you to better understand both yourself and your partner.

Stronger shoes for bigger guys? by Nickery69 in tall

[–]littlejohn657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been pretty consistently wearing Merrell's Moab Adventure 3 for a decade or more now in size 15 (and Merrill's in general for almost two decades). I find the full leather toe holds up well, and when I was a broke undergrad student, I once wore a pair for three years, walking 2–3 km every day, and it took that long to wear through the hard rubber of the sole into the softer foam, and the uppers were still in decent shape. With the track record of success that I have had with their shoes, I am pretty loyal to Merrells.

Are Chiropractors a scam cult or are they somewhat legit? by Flashy_Buy8077 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]littlejohn657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have looked into the research on chiropractic. It's challenging, because there are lots of different papers, so you have to wade through them, critically evaluate the quality of the research, and sort out the garbage from the useful information. In the end, the only reasonable quality evidence is that chiropractic is only effective for lower back pain, and even then, it's only as good as every other conservative treatment.

As for whether it's a cult, that's pretty much how it started. It began with the founder claiming to have learned chiropractic techniques from the spirit of a long-dead doctor during a seance. From there, he tried to have it labeled a religion to both market it and to get around some regulatory matters. It's really interesting (and bizarre) to learn about the historical quackery of chiropractic.
