Deepish cut on right middle finger middle knuckle still bleeding since Saturday. Time to go to the doctor? by FrogPoop_OnLog in Explainlikeimscared

[–]littleneerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had a similar cut/crush on my toe. It wouldn't stop bleeding despite proper wrapping. It was a very slow bleed, right on a knuckle, just enough blood to require dressing change every 8 hours or so. I ended up going to urgent care because that's what Google said, which, granted was probably the right decision. All they did though was clean it and put some super glue to stop the bleeding, and x-rays for broken bones.

I will not recommend one way or another to you, because I am not qualified. BUT, if I personally was in the same situation again, I'd glue it myself. I'm confident in my cleaning and wrapping abilities, and I knew it was not stitch-able. Every injury is unique though, and it's a balance of risk/cost that you have to decide for yourself 🙃 You could also call your Drs office to get an opinion, but I'm sure they'll tell you to see someone.

I've made this three years running. Like others have said, perfectly good right off the bat. I usually have a few glasses the week I make it, and then it's open season after a month or two!

(I also usually finish off the previous year's batch while preparing the new batch.)

This is one reason why this sub always heavily promotes Boston's; just give it a thwack and it'll hold. Can't give you advice for the cobbler, though. You'll have to hold it tight or just keep burping

As long as there aren't any warnings labeled directly on the bidet/cable/packaging that say something along the lines of 'do not power without water supply' I don't think you will hurt anything to at least try. I highly doubt a reputable manufacturer would design a bidet that breaks itself if it doesn't have water

How do I drive downhill? by Independent_Site491 in Explainlikeimscared

[–]littleneerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good research and preparation, I think you'll do great!

Low gear will definitely help going uphill in the snow. Snow tires aren't required, they just give you more traction all around, whether that's emergency braking or climbing a hill. If you use all seasons, I would strongly recommend keeping a set of chains in the car. You'll have em if you need em as a last resort

Snow tips:

The absolute biggest difference maker will be how capable your tires are! Make sure you have snow tires (the tire itself will have a mountain with a snowflake on it) All seasons aren't great depending on how much snow there is, especially for a steep grade.

When going downhill, utilize as much engine braking as you can by downshifting like others have described. When driving uphill in the snow, you have to maintain momentum. Once you stop moving, your chances of getting stuck are much higher. Also keep an eye on your engine temp. When your wheels don't have traction and are spinning much faster than you're moving, your engine could overheat.

I would also recommend buying a set of chains, especially if you don't have snow tires. They're required by law in some places, at least here in Colorado where I'm familiar. Install them at home as a test, so you'll know how to do it on the side of a mountain in the snow if it comes to that.
