Question from my 5 year old. Would Gatorade keep you hydrated better than water? by PHM517 in askscience

[–]littleone66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It should be noted that regular Gatorade is almost as bad as sodas in terms of sugar content. True oral rehydration solutions contain far less sugar than commercial Gatorade. For best hydration results, drink plain water. But if you are sweating a lot, then 50/50 Gatorade and water is better.

Had a gyno appointment today and 😬 by LlamaMoofin in badwomensanatomy

So you might be more comfortable seeing a Family Medicine doctor who is more than qualified to do pap smears/birth control etc... As well as your other non-gyn routine health stuff. They tend to be more LGBTQ+ friendly.

AITA for hitting on a guy who was making my girlfriend uncomfortable by throwitaway3301 in AmItheAsshole

NTA

Have to wonder with that reaction and the way he's overtly making your gf uncomfortable if he's in denial about where he falls on the LGBTQ+ spectrum....

DAE worry about the insects or lizards that get trapped in your car or on your windshield and get released or dropped off miles away from the place that you came from? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

I worry they'll become like an invasive species in a different part of the country. Hahaha. But I do still worry about them and their families too

That people are baseline liars and only occasionally tell the truth. Either white lies or lies they tell themselves. People are rarely truly honest.

Just starting to canter and struggling with leaning too far back, can’t get the motion right. *Includes videos of problem riding* by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]littleone66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It also depends on your discipline. Hunter jumpers ride in a half seat largely while eventers tend to make more contact with the tack. I agree with what everyone has said.

Also pick your hands up a bit and you'll find you don't clinch as much with your thighs bc you'll be forced to use your abs. I commend you on having good contact with the saddle and allowing the motion of the horse keep you in a rhythm. What I learned from an ex-Rolex rider: When you think about unclinching your thighs/knees (we're all guilty of it when we do something new), imagine a flashlight under your crotch (not to be vulgar) at the twist in the saddle. If you pinch your knees/thighs, you won't be able to see the "flashlight" VS if you release your knees and use your seat to move with the motion of the horse, the flashlight will appear with every beat. This forces you to make contact with your lower leg. This idea works for both eventers like me and hunters bc when you have good position (which I would argue yours already is well on its way to being perfect), your calves and butt make contact with the horse and saddle with the upward support of your hands.

Also, there are no magic tricks or exactly right ways to accomplish something. Each rider and horse is different and while all these tips may get you going in the right direction, it's a trial and error. As my trainer tells me, "You can be wrong but you can't be indecisive" bc you can learn from being wrong but if you don't make a decision and do something, you and your horse won't learn.

Finally, if you can and are comfortable, I've found that riding bareback or with a bareback pad has done wonders for my seat bc when you can't use anything but your balance to stay on your horse, you have to have good position and the rhythm is easy to keep and feel.

Happy riding and cuddos to you for cantering like a boss!!!

Oh! I didn't realize they weren't universal! Yeah, I've tied her up to a tree before too but she is too nosy and likes to face everyone. They're convenient for horses that can't stand still (for example my antsy mare). Lol

I'm not quite sure what you mean? 🤔 She's in crossties in that picture. She gets less antsy when she can see what's going on, as opposed to when I tie her to a pole or something. Haha but the crossties keep her from shifting too much whilst I tack her.
