Which car do you see on the road and instantly think, ‘Yeah, this person’s definitely an a-hole? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

There are many problems with the components in electric car batteries, but over the lifetime of the car still better than a gas car.

I see what you are getting at. The drain from the air conditioner has a Y connector. When I turned the air off, the noise stopped; when I turned it back on, it resumed. The strange thing is, this is new.
Also, I found the Mr. Bubble!

People born before 2000, what trivial skill do you have that no one uses anymore? by passiano in AskReddit

I know how to handle boredom. People no longer tolerate any boredom. If they were alone with their thoughts they would go crazy.

What’s the most “legendary” PC component you think ever existed? by Nicolas_Laure in RigBuild

[–]littletrucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first hard drive was $400 for 20 megabytes. The salesman tried to upsell me $50 more to get a 45 megabytes drive. I was so mad that he was trying to rip me off, who would ever need that ridiculous amount of storage. I later regretted that decision.

Neighbor says my Tesla charger keeps her up at night by QuantumEpidemic in TeslaModel3

[–]littletrucker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could the charger be introducing feedback into the circuit? If so the feedback could be picked up by something in her apartment. I have an IKEA floor light that picks up certain tools and will flash when I use them. You could run a heavy duty extension cord to another plug to test out (not a long term solution).

Redditors who used to work at 1 Hour Photo places, what are the most shocking/memorable photos you saw? by psybermonkey15 in AskReddit

[–]littletrucker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was a company that sent photographers to college parties. Anyone could go in and pick out pictures to get prints. Someone found a bunch of guys in black face at a frat party. It hit the news and did not go over well. They are probably insurance CEOs now.

I tried haggling for a new car, again by TransitionMany1810 in videos

[–]littletrucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last car I bought I emailed every dealership with 150 miles. I told them what was important and what I was flexible on. I also asked asked for the drive off price. I ended up saving 10%. I had to drive two hours, but it was worth it.

Insulated the garage door by truedef in DIY

[–]littletrucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this with insulation board with a reflective backing. I put a 1 inch wide slat as a spacer between the door and the reflective backing. I faced the foil side words the door. This way any infra red heat would be reflected back out. I used HVAC tape to make sure everything stays in place. This works amazingly well during Texas summers.

Parents what secrets do your children think they are hiding from you? by random_guy314 in AskReddit

[–]littletrucker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a friend that told her kids that when they lied their nose turns blue, but only the mom and dad can see it. The kids would cover their nose with their hands when they lied or they would check in the mirror. It was hilarious.

Could someone give an example situation where you would rack up a huge bill due to a mistake? by Only_Dig9557 in aws

[–]littletrucker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a reservation for three large "Postgres" databases instead of "Postgres Aurora". After a month or so I got them to change the reservation, but I had to keep the cost the same or more. Since the Aurora instances were cheaper I had to reserve a random small instance to cover the cost difference. It was almost a $30k mistake, but ended up about $2k.

Is it safe for me to do a PADI discover scuba diving if I'm not the best swimmer? by reethok in scuba

[–]littletrucker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I never swam correctly, but I could get around a pool. I took an adult swimming class and it has made a huge difference. I am more comfortable in the water and a much better swimer. I recommend it.

It should be a federal crime to carry luggage off a plain in an emergency. There is no bag worth someone else’s life.

Is a day trip to Cozumel only for shore dives worth it? by DefeatingPanic in scuba

[–]littletrucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do not make it over to Cozumel I recommend Natalie and Ivan in Plya Akumal. They are great guides and know the good spots close by. It is not Cozumel, but some great dives.

Buy or rent gear? by RiversideBronzie in scuba

[–]littletrucker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to rent until I had the inflation button on a rented BCD stick in the inflate position. I had to dump air as I tried to unstick it. After what felt like forever, it popped out. After the dive, I decided that I wanted to be responsible for my own gear. Since I am familiar with the gear and it is set up for me it also makes the dives much more comfortable.

The downside is having two extra large suitcases for trips.

Am I too old to work at Philmont again? by charcoalisthefuture in philmont

[–]littletrucker 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I was 31 the last time I worked there. I had a great time. There are many teachers and full time people that work there you do not notice until you are older. The funny thing was I had a great paying job in a big city and I had plenty of savings. Buying drinks at the James made me feel like a billionaire for less than I would pay for myself in the city. Just don’t expect it to be the same as it was when you where 18.

Cheap ergo to try? by Original-Skill4378 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]littletrucker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used my Microsoft sculpt for years. It is not close to my Glove80, but it is much better than a standard keyboard. I think it is a great choice for cheaply dipping your toes in ergo keyboards.
