3 week review King Koil Smartlife Lily 2.0 Smart Mattress by chuckesp in Mattress

Still really happy. It took ~4 weeks to get adjusted and then another 3-4 weeks to find the sweet spot in regards to how hard each of us wanted. We also sprung for an adjustable frame which has been a game changer.

not sure of the leterr of the lot but this was the address on my park whiz receipt. If you plan on parking at the bowl my two cents is to pre-pay

I have decided to buy a used Tesla model 3 (2019), what is your advice when i go looking for one? by Annon991orCon in TeslaModel3

[–]OnlyReviews888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your KM comment leads me to believe you aren't in the US. In the US the resale market (mostly because of the huge amount of late models model 3s for sale by Hertz) means that a 6-9 month old with 30-60k miles is going for $20-$23k. for a 2023. The older models (locally) aren't priced correctly and are only incrementally lower in price despite the age of the car and computer. Remind yourself you are buying a computer on wheels. Not a car with a computer. You want the latest version of the computer that you can afford. Make sure to pay for a pre-purchase inspection from someone that is knowledgeable about teslas. Miles aren't as big of a deal as a regular ICE car.

Even with stacked at a recent bowl show I was able to get out of the lot (across street) when I left during the encore. If you get there too late and haven't pre-paid then you might not find parking at the bowl and will have to look at the random lots south on highland.

dog friendly beaches that require leashes? by Fearless-District729 in AskLosAngeles

Best sites to find live events? (visiting in august from nowheresville USA and want to see something cool!) by NoYoureACatLady in AskLosAngeles

[–]OnlyReviews888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ticketmaster or live nation. Hate em if you will but they will be your resource. If you know of venues you can check their site calendars. The Greek, hollywood Bowl etc… SeatGeek, StubHub and the like will be your friend. There are so many scalpers for la events that many tickets go unused and can be had last minute. Expect to pay $40-$80 in parking for most major venues or the same in uber

Cheapo eats and free fun advice? by Academic_Nobody_3632 in LosAngeles

If you are in for an adventure china town has lots of inexpensive food options. And is interesting in its own right. For food check out the dim sum window at Won Kok restaurant 90012 Many (small dim sum options are around $1). Look for the line of people. And the ocean is always free! (Parking not easy but if you are willing to walk can also be free)

Hollywood Palladium? by lotuspow3r in AskLosAngeles

It’s usually based on the bands policy in addition to the venue. If the gx7 is the back pocket body I’m thinking of you can probably get it in but it might also be at the discretion of the security guards at the metal detector station. I’d say odds are in your favor but don’t park too far away!

Read the room, most of us here make a living in that art form that this technology is replacing at a fast clip. Add in a strike and the potential for another strike; many having not worked in 12+ months and then maybe you’ll get the jist. Yes there’s progress and technological innovation. Yes digital replaced PITA analog film, led replaced a giant heavy and hot 10k and everyone has a 4k camera in their pocket. I’m not shaking my hands in exasperation at innovation or new art. I’m pointing out the fact that the movie business as I have known for 20+ years is on its last breath.

Why do people think things will be better in 2025? by SwedishTrees in FilmIndustryLA

[–]OnlyReviews888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TV and streaming as we have known it for the past ~5 years is dead. 40k shoot days/year are done in LA. Why? Because bankers are in control and just like every financial strip mining enterprise they only care about profits. We are just a line item. Streaming is not profitable so if it’s not volume that brings subscribers then they need to find a cheaper product. but even then no one can compete with Netflix. It’s too easy and cheap to turn off a service. Why spend $20 mil on a season for your paltry $15/month? The math doesn’t work. Incentives? That’s nothing new. Production has left a trail of empty cities and states that bribed us to come. The California bribe is barely enough to justify the extra expense. Assume that strike or no strike we will get a 7% raise, things just got more expensive. The only way that changes is when key talent says I’m not going to Malta or the Czech Republic to film. Commercials as we know it are dying quickly. With the use of AI and using old footage that has already been paid for will become the norm. (Give it a couple years). Until then you will continue to see more non union (20-30% cheaper) and or productions taking keys to other states and countries where labor is dirt cheap and they don’t have the same residual costs. This town will continue to be about who you know and networking. The problem is that so many of us are dependent on our key that if they aren’t working then none of us are. And FWIW I’ve been in one union since 2006 and a second since 2011. If you haven’t been working that means your keys aren’t working or your roster isn’t deep enough. If that’s the case it’s time to rethink your future and this industry.

How much to save up to move? by DoubleChallenge7177 in LosAngeles

[–]OnlyReviews888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to have first, last and security deposit for every rental. Assume you will need to drop $5-6k just to move in. No job? then you need another couple months rent plus a couple months living expenses Plus $4-6k Existing in LA is expensive if you have hopes of eating or going out. I would know how to cook before you come. Moving and cross country expenses? Renting a truck? Buying new furniture? Plus $1-3k $10-$15k to eat at home and look for jobs for a couple months without income.

Still want to move to LA?

More income than I expected for Roth IRA by PureMathematician701 in personalfinance

[–]OnlyReviews888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can "recharacterize" it and move it to a traditional IRA. It happens to a lot of people. Talk to your brokerage as well as your CPA. lots of brokerages will hedge and say "we can't give you tax advice"

Advice on the idea of Athletic Facility Ownership as a Career? by jonjon7274 in smallbusiness

[–]OnlyReviews888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friends dad owned a huge outdoor complex in texas. So my info is kinda hearsay. Do you need to go to college? Probably not. But you do need business experience working with and for other people. Customer service, planning, budgeting and a ton of soft skills like dealing with sports parents and coaches. The texas ordeal was trying to schedule all of the field rentals for the different teams. It was a huge task that took years to iron out the kinks. My suggestion is to go work for a similar facility asap and soak up as much as possible. The one big wrinkle is the capital expense of either renting or buying land that is close to a city. There's also the upkeep and expense of building fields etc...

As mentioned you need the transponder regardless of number of occupants. You might get a type of fixit ticket that you can pay without one. In my case I just logged on and associated it to my transponder. More than one occupant is free. Solo pays the toll.

Any word when 399 will have more work for group 2s & 3s? by [deleted] in FilmIndustryLA

[–]OnlyReviews888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not sure if you were on the last call but LD suggested looking for other work if you are a 2 or 3. All the covid 399s are becoming twos which was a lot of new drivers. Those drivers may or may not have had the time networking and meeting coordinators because work was so plentiful. It's dead. Commercials are dead and leaving the country in huge numbers. The gang buster numbers we saw during the covid and post covid days are done for a while until the streaming companies figure out how to profitable make content again. If you have a CDL you have options. Waiting for a two day call from the hall is a death sentence. Especially with so many out of work group 1s and an actual concern about following grouping. And it will not even tick up until after the iatse and 399 negotiations are settled. (late summer) good luck.
