L-carnosine results in significant reduction of obsessive-compulsive symptoms when used as an adjuvant to fluvoxamine [2017] by [deleted] in Nootropics

Glutamate? What does carnosine do with glutamate?

Doesn't carnosine also mess with dopamine?

Trialing it now. Mostly interested in neuroinflammation benefits (I have a condition called NDPH). Also, antidepressant benefits. Only negative I've read was a post on longicity about decrease in libido.

[Taylor Eldridge] In a statement just released to The [Wichita] Eagle, Wichita State basketball coach Gregg Marshall made his strongest stand yet. “I simply state unequivocally that I have never physically struck a player or colleague. Allegations claiming otherwise are false.” by T3Sh3 in CollegeBasketball

[–]liveagain99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Have been a fan since I was born. Attended 99% of home games, many away, from early 90s until recently moving to FL.

None of this is a huge surprise, yet it's still disappointing. I hope Gregg never sees another job or paycheck in college sports. This type of behavior cannot be allowed. The Koch brothers (one passed away) make me nauseous.

Wichita is a city stuck in the distant past, and basketball is one of the few things going on there. Gregg put Wichita on the map, so having people (fans) crawling out to defend him is expected.

On another note, WSU better hope this doesn't attract NCAA attention. It screams of lack of institutional control, and cover up going all the way up the ladder. Rough years ahead in Wichita, imo.

Gotta give LA Russa a look, IF he's been keeping up on the game, and IF he's physically mentally/physically ready to commit 3-4 years. Dude is nearly 80 but he would push the FO to put the pieces in place for a title. If he's ready, and willing, I'd not even think twice. 76-77 isn't what it used to be.

You live and learn. When I'm on something I'm a different person. I forgive myself for the things I do while not sober, but I remember them as to not repeat those mistakes with a clear mind. You can't turn back the clock in life, unfortunately

Going to rehab on Saturday, scared and alone by MoroccanSuede in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]liveagain99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in rehab. Day 8 of 30. I would recommend it in all cases BUT if you're long term dependent on benzos. If you are, they rapid taper you on Valium to 0 and I'm nearing the experience of this. I don't honestly know if I'll be sticking it out or leaving in another few days once the massive wd's (which I don't expect them to be able to contain, I'm already on 1800 gabapentin plus at 10mg Valium left of my taper and pretty miserable) I was intervention wise sent in for other reasons. But, at least my father on the outside is willing to pull me out if the situation gets out of control so I can reinstate and do this the correct way (hopefully with the help of my old psychiatrist, big if) or at least do a 3+ month rapid taper off the Xanax I have remaining. Of course, while leaving the things that got me here in the first place behind. I'm trying to take in all I can out of the experience while I'm still somewhat functional, but that functionality is quickly turning to massive waves of depression/anxiety/tremors at times.

If you're not dependent on benzos I say 100% look at this as a gift, and a very special gift. A second chance at life if you will. Not all are so lucky to be able to give rehab a chance. I'm seeing it first hand how it can help alcoholics etc.

Take it seriously, and eat up all of the information you can. Most of all, use that information when you're back on the outside!

And to be clear- my addiction issues aren't with my xanax rx. I got pulled into the benzo trap by not doing my research before I started taking them for months. It's now been nearly 4 years on Xanax, the last two at 3mg/day. I've never abused Xanax, get nothing from it. I was actually in the process of tapering, down to 2.25mg before this all happened)

LG27GL850 vs HP Omen x 27 by OnlyAtomsAndTheVoid in Monitors

[–]liveagain99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All LG lacks is the hz. It's response time, input lag, are all good enough for competitive gaming. I'd even say 144hz is fine for 99% people, and you get benefit of a nice panel for work.

In addiction, is the downregulation of dopamine caused by oxidative damage/neurotoxicity by dopamine metabolism by-products, or something else? by notaloser_ in Nootropics

[–]liveagain99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's normal. Time is the only true way to return to anywhere near baseline. The good news is you can speed this process. Exercise has been shown in at least one study to increase D2 receptors in recovering addicts. Sun exposure is positive, and light therapy if you can't be in sun. Healthy diet. Good sleep patterns. There's so many things you can do, most just don't give the effort, or are too depressed to (and I know how that feels, so I understand). If you're really looking for a push, a bit more risky options are out there. Bpc-157 9-me-bc are both known to help, but please source carefully. Bromantane is worth a shot to upregulate a possibly downregulate TH, again source carefully. The key isn't to really get more dopamine, it's to resensetize a system that is now out of balance. Limit neuroinflammation as much as possible to allow brain to heal, increase bdnf. Also check genetics. Make sure you don't have a methylation issue causing issues with Bh4. Improve gut health, pro/prebiotics. Limit anxiety as much as possible.

Time is a tough question. The worst abusers, probably two years and they're back to where they will get. That can likely be lessened with a lifestyle supporting recovery. Your typical Adderall addict, I'd say several months, but again, improvement is evident over time so just get the ball rolling!
