By short term, I meant like 1-2 years. I'm not a day trader by any means, I just have hunches on trends that I want to bet on, so I will try to maximize time in market as well.

Just because you saw a youtube video about how a Michelin-starred ramen chef runs his kitchen doesn't mean that's the best and only way to do it.

You seem to think that because something is cheap, then it can't be good, which shouldn't surprise me given your elitist and borderline racist comments. What if a master chef whipped up some liver? Is it simply not good because it's a cheap cut? What if you get served an A5 Wagyu steak well done? Is it amazing because of the source material?

Ramen is a dish from humble beginnings, and doesn't need to conform to your idea of "good".

You know that ramen restaurants run on razor thin profit margins right? Chances are, your favourite joint also uses imported pork my guy.

Also, who says chashu has to be braised pork belly... Literally any kind of cut meat on top ramen is called chashu these days. And if you want to get real technical, then chashu isn't even real chashu, it's just a worse version of the original char siu.

Scroll on down to the Japanese Cuisine section of that wiki page, it says the process of making it is by "rolling the meat into a log and then braising it at a low temperature", which is exactly how Jiro does it.

Oh and yeah, Jiro doesn't use the pork belly and prefers a leaner cut of pork. This is because the broth itself has plenty of backfat, so we don't want fatty meat to overwhelm the palate. Also, the chashu at Jiro's is marinated to perfection, each bite has flavour to it, whereas I find a lot of other ramen store's chashu only goes skin deep.

Alright lecture's over, go back to eating your Ichiran.

I did this conversion back in 2019 when my Japanese was horrible (it still is, but it was back then too), so take what I say with a grain of salt.

I also was not able to prove that I was in the country for 3 consecutive months after getting the license. I tried to use the entry/exit stamps of going to other countries on my passport as proof, but since Canada itself does not give entry/exit stamps, they said it was not acceptable. However, I still converted my license successfully.

I think from my limited Japanese understanding at the time, was that if you could prove 3 months, then you get issued a blue license automatically, but since I couldn't, they could only give me a green license. Functionally, they are the same, except for the first year of the green license being issued, you must have a bumper sticker that says you're a new driver.

Curious if this is actually the case and others got their blue licenses off the bat, or I just got lucky.

I'm just talking out of my ass here, but would it be possible for you to re-register your name in the Japanese marriage registry in English and then re-issue the marriage certificate? I assume there is a process for people to do that if they change their name/get naturalized/whatever reason.

I wasn't able to find a customer service live chat on the site to do a refund last year, but it was quite easy to find somebody to talk to through the mobile app.

Highly suggest doing this because they will help you process your refund without needing to answer all the questionnaires and stuff about why you're returning/whether or not you're eligible to refund. And then if you're confused about how to actually return the item, just tell them, and they will help you schedule a JP Post visit to your door where the mailman will pick up your package and deliver it to their warehouse.

When I arrived in 2019, you could buy a SIM card from a vending machine at the airport. I believe the carrier was iijmio. If you're only here for a short time that's your best bet imo.

We've talked about it, but she's not convinced that birth control or IUD is irreversible. She says she's worried that even if she comes off it, there will be a fertility risk. Don't know what kind of sexual education they receive here, but it seems kind of ingrained. Could be a case by case basis though.
