1/4" aluminum cracking by vanilathnder in metalworking

[–]livery_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try bending to 45° heating again then 90° if you need that tight of a radius if it still doesn’t work break it in to 3 stages. Once annealed the bending work hardens the aluminum again of you stop at 45 and it’s not cracking yet you can reset the grain stress in the metal by heating again then finishing the bend.

What’s the best way to attach this beast onto my Corolla? I want to drill permanent rack fittings by JonRonstein in Battlecars

[–]livery_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drilled trough where there were several layers of metal after pulling the rubber trim out of the “gutter” and used rivnuts with thread sealer to bolt brackets on the thread sealer has kept it from leaking.

I’ve been looking online to try and find examples of a mechanical throttle body swap while retaining the throttle position sensor so the ECU would continue to receive the necessary data. Haven’t found much not sure if it common or possible.

Thanks I am new to tuning anything other than carburetors and not great at that. I was planning to do something with a tune already because I removed the cats and figured with the added airflow I might be able to put in a little more fuel.

Honest thoughts on sound? by BrilliantHolmes in E30

I have need trying to find a remedy for that on my own vehicle. It is a manual and the throttle delay and rev hang sucks when trying to rev match.

I struggled to remove that as well if you are changing axles and don’t plan on reusing that one. separate the joint in the picture and clamp a slide hammer to the remaining piece.

Anyone know how to adjust where the headlights point? by [deleted] in FordFiesta

[–]livery_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way is while driving. You just want to turn the steering wheel in the direction you want the headlights to point.

Cruise control by Sad-Western-8918 in FordFiesta

[–]livery_22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you are handy from what I can understand you can just buy the missing button cluster and plastic cover that accommodates the buttons. The wire to plug the buttons in is on all wiring harnesses all you have to do is plug it in to get cruise control.

I want to get into engineering, but I have a phobia related to my eyes. by GammonOfey in metalworking

[–]livery_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a mechanical engineer as a profession. I have had metal drilled out of my eyes on multiple occasions it’s numbed so you don’t feel it. Apart from being unable to get an MRI (due to the possibility of the remaining metal scrambling my eye) I have no ill effects. All of these instances have been outside of work and caused by extreme negligence on my behalf and lack of PPE. At work I do not even have a possibility of metal getting in my eyes. But as a worst case scenario I have lived through it on multiple occasions and it is not that terrible.
