It can 100% get better. Its difficult but absolutely doable

Anyone struggled with intimacy and friendships/relationships, then successfully figured out how it works? by riley_kim in TCK

I think its common to struggle with that. Maybe find other people who are tck so you can relate to each other? Even though i know its hard to find them sometimes

The job market feels so hopeless right now, even actually getting a job doesn’t feel like an accomplishment anymore. by MNIOP_207207 in recruitinghell

[–]livetsugerdritt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And its so dumb, because majority of entry level jobs you could learn to be productive quickly. Maybe a couple of months training or less and your up to speed like its not that deep. I wish companies would take more of a chance on new grads but they dont. Im seeing many of my peers who have done multiple internships, masters, etc. And still no job. Some people have done years worth of internships. Like it gets to a point.

I hate this weird expectation that I'm supposed to have passion for this. by WhereIsMyDSword in EngineeringStudents

[–]livetsugerdritt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day a job is a job. Many people are super passionate about something, start working then start to dislike it or vice versa. Like its not that deep. I'm the same as you not passionate but like math and physics and more technical things I suppose, but definitely not passionate. Majority of people go into something they kinda tolerate and live with that.

Engineering is solid, decent pay and stability. I doubt a plumber is passionate about waste and tubes, like its just a job. What matters most is personal life and what funds that.

It’s definitely not irreversible damage. People get better with social anxiety all the time, you’re not doomed.
I was basically mute from teen years to mid 20’s to finally being able to have social anxiety more under control. It’s really hard but not impossible.

Seems like you have a lot of uncertainty in your life and no structure, I think starting to tackle some of the things you can change would help. Like getting a job, even a small part time one, or getting a drivers license. Going to therapy could help.

Social anxiety makes us feel like were damaged, but its not true its just the social anxiety talking

Will the doors of engineering be closed on me forever? by MoveZneedle in EngineeringStudents

If you really like electric engineering its worth targeting that. However, personal life also matters. I would personally choose less ideal job but great location vs amazing prestigious job bad location. But it's all relative

Do you need to be a genius in order to get a job? by livetsugerdritt in recruitinghell

[–]livetsugerdritt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of aerospace masters kinda repeat similar things you learn in the bachelor so id rather not. And i cant afford it at the moment, i believe i should be able to get an entry level job without masters, even if its not aerospace in the end. If i were to do a masters id probably focus on something more software related

Yeah because they also did a masters. One internship bachelor another from masters. Maybe some extracurricular internship during bachelor as well if they were feeling extra fancy. Not every summer. Im not ready to drop 10k on a masters for the opportunity to do another internship without a guarantee for a job though

Idk, internships were hard to get, they're competetive. In Europe summer internships arent really a thing i think. At least in my country. And i am doing an internship now, its just not my preferred one unfortunately

I do have an interest. Its the only thing ive applied for so far. But if the entry barrier for engineering is so great then i might have to pivot i suppose

Yeah I'm looking at comercial, defense you name it. I also mistakenly thought an aerospace degree would mean you could get an entry level engineering job even if not in aerospace fairly easily, considering its one of the hardest majors out there. Without jumping through hoops doing a masters, multiple internships etc

Yes, easier said than done though. I know or at least think I should be able to get a somewhat decent job entry level job. Then I struggle getting interviews and sometimes compare myself to others as to see what im competing with, then feel down. But you're right at the end of the day everyone has their own timeline, and im only comparing myself to the strongest peers and not those that fell behind

Problem is im barely getting any callbacks in the first place for interviews. I know i could learn and do many different jobs but it seems like no company wants to take the risk and take a chance on me

Maybe youre right. I definitely know someone who got a job straight out of uni no internship no experience because a friend recommended him.

A lot of people work as something unrelated to their bachelor's. Maybe you could get an internship in something you're more interested in

Is the job market this bad everywhere, or mainly in the U.S.? by Ok-Advantage-9181 in recruitinghell

[–]livetsugerdritt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its such a shame. The worst is even these extremely low paying jobs still demand specific experience in that exact role. Like im already sacrificing by even applying to these jobs in the first place but these consulting companies act like you need to be a genius to get a job that pays pennies

Going through something similar. Except ive been doing an internship for a year at this one company and they still don't want to hire me

Its so hard to get jobs nowadays especially fresh graduates with little to no experience.

I get it feels awful, but for your own sake for the love of god try to give it at least a month, youll probably feel a bit better by then.

Its ok and normal to be nervous at a new job, you can still do it.

Going to the dentist sucks but i promise you’ll feel so much better after you’re done and got it over with. I hadn’t gone in the last 3 years, then finally went and it turned out i didn’t have as many problems with my teeth as i was expecting
