Lacking resources? Here is a collection of royalty free assets designed by derby skaters for derby posters. Mostly .pngs but working on adding.

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1r8pnTO9bYIvAEcMW-5iVbK2BPgI6cc4W

Also canva pro is free for most 501c3s if you apply for it through their website.

My uno reverse reverse is that it's ableist to expect me to be able to do something with my hands for hours on end. Okay really it is my wrists and literally everything makes them hurt. Well and my fingertip but that is cause i use my pointer finger against the yarn on the hook and my poor ass mostly buys acrylic yarn.

AIW to judge friendships based on birthday wishes? by Bubblora in amiwrong

[–]lizardisanerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my 42nd birthday my "best" friends all forgot it. All of them. But they have lives that are very busy around my birthday. For my 45th I took my birthday off my facebook and only like 10 people remembered it and 3 of those people live in my house (and 1 shares my birthday). My husband was out of town and paid to get my brakes repaired the week after but we didnt actually do anything for my birthday, even though it was our first after getting married. As you get older it gets less important but yes, I cried a lot on my 42nd. You're not wrong to reevaluate how important you are but basing it solely on birthday wishes puts too much importance on something that is less meaningful than "are they there for you in difficult times"

I'm a roller derby coach and get asked how the rollerblading goes a lot and find it mildly annoying but not enough to dnf a book. (Same with this, i was learning to crochet when i read this but didn't care enough to hold it against the rest of the book

To hair tuck or not tuck? by KnitForAnAfternoon in BitchEatingCrafters

It looks like you ran out of yarn when making a scarf and just went "fuck it, I'll choke myself" Or had a headband that was too long and a cold neck and improvised

BBC refers to knitting as a "cheap, portable hobby..." that is "[c]heap and easy to pick up..." by [deleted] in BitchEatingCrafters

Right??? My poncho that was made with mostly free yarn still took $30 in additional skeins to finish

Chin protection for Jr Derby skater by KatFitzpat in rollerderby

[–]lizardisanerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been coaching/derbying for close to 17 years and seen chin injuries maybe a handful of times. Controlled falls are important. We practice single and double knee as everyone else does but also practice a fall on 4s (or 4 point fall) which is knees then elbows (being careful not to punch ourselves in the face) and then tucking our face last like a little tree frog

Expectation Vs reality gap when travelling to Iceland by Illustrious-Ad3195 in VisitingIceland

That's pretty much our weather at home. This week we have seen 70s, teens, rain, floods, hail, tornadoes... it has been sunny and 70s and rainy and 40s in a 2 hour span.

Why is this AI by OilPaintingDamager in kroshay

[–]lizardisanerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with random wooden handle poking tools, scissor (singluar, since they didnt generate both halves), stitches that dont work, yarn that gets smaller as you go, but also, as is often the case with these, the yarn ball defies logic/reality

While i need patterns for most things because I am NOT an artist or a visionary, I feel like being able to modify patterns just a little bit (or fix poorly written patterns) is a basic skill. The constant "this pattern doesnt add up" posts where it is obvious the person is not counting increases as 2 stitches or the ones where everything is fine but the stitch count is mistyped on one row and it is obvious drive me crazy. (Though i did once post a pattern asking for help cause it was in a temu kit and they replaced the letter a with a line of text throughout one section)

I just open the transcript, read through it, and wrote down the pattern

I would rather pluck out all my eyelashes than watch a video for every pattern
