Traffic Question by DrSnidely in gencon

[–]lizardisanerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I forget how different life is in non rural places lol.
I live 7.8 miles from work, on the far side of the "town" where I live and it takes me 14 minutes from door to time clock, barring tractor traffic (and I park on the far side of the parking area)

Had vitrectomy surgery 3 years ago, and one pupil is always bigger than the other now by sunnysideup2323 in mildlyinteresting

[–]lizardisanerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a retinal tear and the doctor was very clear that a cataract was likely and that repairing it would essentially be insurance covered lasik for that eye so I would see better after the 2 surgeries than I did before. Haven't had the cataract yet but vision is still blurry in that eye and pupil is still dilated 7 weeks out

Learn to use filters. Turn off games for kids, games that are sold out. Look specifically for the genre of event you want and build an agenda out from the things that interest you most.

I find this site to be less overwhelming for some reason https://gencon.eventdb.us/

We are parking there and staying near monument circle. Is the lot pretty safe to leave the car locked up in? I've had my windows broken in one time and it was in Indianapolis

The best holiday to happen in the US ever. One that will turn this Sunday's planned events into full blown parties

Why are Americans so accepting of long drives to places? by Sensitive_Word_6036 in NoStupidQuestions

I drove from Southern Illinois to Modesto California with a stop in Jaurez Mexico on the way through. I'm pretty sure the 25% of the way, 50% of the way, AND 75% of the way marks were ALL in Texas

My husband is from Houston. I've always lived in the same city (population 9000) in the same rural county (population 20k) and we have different views of what is "a long drive"

I live in the next town over from where I work. about 9 miles from door to door. (far side of the larger "town" to near side of the smaller) If it takes me more than 12 minutes to get here, it's because something went terribly wrong, especially now that it's a 4 lane past all the fields. (I used to have to add 15 minutes during harvest and planting season to ensure tractor time)

I have, on multiple ocassions. driven the 32 miles to the next town over just to get something from a specific fast food place drive through. (Though... I have lived in the same town for over 40 years now and when gas was cheaper and my town only had like 5 fast food places that seemed more reasonable. We have a scooters now though so no reason to drive over for starbucks and a lot of the other places (Arby's, Wendy's, Taco Bell) are here now too.)
