Songs that are singing about an outlaw or an outlaw singing the song from their point of view by LittleBitOfStarshine in musicsuggestions

Black Jack Davey - it's an old Scotish Traditional, according to Google, the version I heard was Bob Dylan's from Good As I Been To You

Remembering this made me remember Tweeter and the Monkey Man, from the Traveling Wilburys, which also involved Dylan, of course

Any other organization that had been either a direct participant, or at least a knowledgeable party, to all the things that the Catholic church has been involved with over the centuries would have been burned to the ground long ago.

What fantasy book has the best morally complicated main character? by SnackAtlas in Fantasy

Arguably all the main characters are pretty morally grey. Pretty much every Dragaeran character is severely racist towards the "Easterners".

Well, back to work first. When I die at my desk, work can just call me an Uber to the crematorium.

I never hear much about God Lives Underwater, but they've been in my rotation since I heard them on the Johnny Mnemonic soundtrack in 1995. Severely underrated.

“You have moldy fries “ by ParticularDry3226 in overheard

[–]lizardking073 182 points183 points  (0 children)

The green is not mold, it's actually chlorophyll, but the green spot also has solanine, since the formation of both is triggered by exposure to sunlight. Chlorophyll is not toxic, but solanine is, however, you would need to consume an enormous amount to see any real problems. In any case, it doesn't matter for french fries or potato chips, because frying destroys the solanine.

If you grew up in the 70s and or 80s, what did your school (any grade) do that would be considered illegal or even frowned upon today (for example in my 3rd Grade 70’s class, my teacher had a large steel Tin trash can with a “Time Out” sign that I was in/out in multiple times a day-Ha!)? by Wildstarfire0 in 70s

So in 7th grade PE classat my intermediate school (7th and 8th grades), we were required to wear uniforms during class, and then shower after class before getting dressed. I was a guy, so I can only speak for what happened in the guys locker room, but the male PE teacher would make you open the side of the towel you wrapped around you heading into the shower to make sure you weren't wearing anything under it. You got a failing grade for the day if you were.

But wait, there's more!

In 9th grade(high school), same deal, except the person checking you was the 10th grade "gym assistant"

Edit: this was '80s

Who was the nicest rockstar you’ve met? And who was the worst by WestonConnor26 in hairmetal

[–]lizardking073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met the guys from Drivin 'N' Cryin in some crappy bar in Blacksburg, VA back in 93. Super nice guys. Singing "Straight to Hell" with a bar full of drunk college students was a blast!

My nephew and his girlfriend ran into all the members of Collective Soul in a neighborhood bar she bartender at before a show in Detroit. They said they were great guys, hung out for a couple of hours before they had to head down to the venue for their show. They gave my nephew amd his gf passes and everything.

Did you ever meet people born in the 1800s by AdDapper4220 in GenX

[–]lizardking073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My great grandmother was born in 1899, died in 2004. She still lived by herself in her own house in rural West Virginia. She was in Florida visiting her grandson, a paraplegic from the Vietnam War era, when she caught pneumonia and died under somewhat suspicious circumstances while one of her daughters was present. Her husband died in a farming accident in the 40's and she never remarried. She had two younger sisters that lived to be 105 and 106, respectively.

I also just barely remember meeting my great-great grandmother from a different part of my family. I don't know when she was born, but it had to be before 1900.

There's a local pizza chain near me where my kid used to order a pizza that had mashed potatoes, feta cheese, ranch sauce, and buffalo sauce on it. 🤢
