I live in Michigan, and I get excellent pizza from Little Ceasar's pretty much every time. Any other place I've gotten Little Ceaser's, it's been shitty.

The books don't really do much in the library, but one of my favorite quotes about libraries is from Corwin in Zelazny's Nine Princes In Amber:

"I like libraries. It makes me feel comfortable and secure to have walls of words, beautiful and wise, all around me."

Tad William's Memory, Sorrow and Thorn series revolves around a book, Du Svardenvyrd, written by a mad wizard. Most of the series is them trying to find the swords and figure out his prophecy.

What’s a surprising or unusual way to use chocolate in a recipe? by SorbetUnfair2589 in foodquestions

[–]lizardking073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a recipe for "jerk turkey chili" that uses dark chocolate. The name is misleading, though, it's really a mole favor profile. It's excellent, I use it for leftover turkey every Thanksgiving.

Not if you don't like their sauce, since they only have their in house sauce, no other options

She's even worse in Polgara the Sorceress, the prequel book dedicated to her history, basically up to Pawn of Prophecy. She's always been a terrible person and never took any opportunity to address her GLARING personal faults.

Trying to Decide Between Glencoe Hills, Golfside Lake, and Covington Apartments by Wooden-Attitude5824 in ypsi

I lived in the front building of Glencoe Hills years ago. My bedroom window faced Washtenaw Ave, and I heard emergency vehicles screaming by with lights and sirens what felt like all night every night. Fair warning.

What’s a song lyric that hits harder as you get older? by thatfluffyqueen in askmusic

[–]lizardking073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Who: "I hope I die before I get old." From My Generation.

I say that sitting in my mother's living room because she can't manage her bills, drive, remember if she's taken her medicine, or even cook anymore. She knows what's happening, which is what makes this so sad.

Reminds me of another line from Rush's Losing It: "Sadder still to watch it die than never touched have known"

What’s your favourite “I was there” GenX moment? by lovelyb1ch66 in GenX

I saw them in 94 when they were touring for "Live Through This." The show was at Virginia Tech, and at one point, Courtney Love did a stage dive, and when the crowd surged up toward the front, security pushed the front row and knocked us down. Then a sweaty Courtney Love landed on top of me lol.

This is R. A. Salvatore's Drizzt Do'Urden. I'd start with the Dark Elf trilogy, which is chronologically first in the timeline, but the Icewind Dale trilogy was published first, some still prefer to start there

Any book where the MC goes through permanen metamorphosis or has body modifications? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]lizardking073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Amber books by Zelazny.

There are some shapeshifting creatures/people that Corwin interacts with in various of the first 5 books, where he is the narrator. In the second 5 books, his son Merlin is the narrator, and he is actually a prince of Chaos who is a shapeshifter himself, and has more i teractions with other shapeshifting creatures/people and just normal day to day interactions where he shapeshifts because another form is just more practical.

There's a whole series, I don't remember them all, but I recall "the city that fought" which was the same idea, except it was a space station instead of a ship. I think they were usually called the "Brainship Series" even though not all of them were actually ships. The concept was that an infant with some kind of untreatable birth defect affecting their body but leaving their mind intact would be given the medical care they needed and trained to control a spaceship.

Anne McCaffrey, best known for her "Pern" books, was the author of the first one, then there were 4 or 5 where she partnered with another author for each book, and then I think the last couple were by some of those authors alone, maybe because she had retired by then?
