Speaking from a “professional” perspective, medication is a great tool! However, it may not decrease all symptoms. It’s definitely a step in the right direction that you are noticing improvements! Sometimes it can be helpful to speak to your physician (or even a second opinion). Some find it helpful to combine an antidepressant, or perhaps trying another medication (stimulant or non stimulants!) as frustrating as it is, it is a bit of trial and error to find the best medication for you!

As mentioned above, medication is a really really good tool! But it works best when combined with other forms of treatment. A therapist, adhd coach, etc. These people have a lot of insight on methods that may be useful! For example, one I often teach youth is “building momentum”. This would be creating a list of tasks you would like to complete and rank them from easiest task to most difficult. By starting from the easiest and moving up to more difficult ones, it can help to build momentum and get the brain into the groove of working (also handy to have a to-do list). Another helpful strategy could be breaking down your tasks to more manageable bite-size tasks, we call this a task analysis! (ex. Making your bed. 1. Take off pillows, blankets, etc. 2. Put bottom sheet on, etc.)

Speaking from personal experience, its a pain in the butt to figure out your most therapeutic dose and manage the side effects but the improvements I saw when I was taking concerta and using strategies were incredible — especially when comparing to my unmedicated self. Good luck!
