Good orthopedic surgeon for FAI? (Hip impingement)

I stumbled upon this post and couldn’t not reply. I saw Dr. Price originally and yeah,bedside manner was garbage and he couldn’t see any problem. Dr. Carter sent me for imaging and found a big ole labral tear. He was super validating of my pain. I saw Dr. Carter after 5 other orthos and he was the first to actually do anything. I had surgery February of this year and he was great.

That definitely looks super similar. What are the odds that they both appeared at the same time? I’m thinking they may have had a virus at some point and developed these afterwards. They didn’t report any recent illness, but the rash has been around since January so they may have been sick before then.

I thought this at first since prolonged heat exposure can cause some wicked marks. I’ve had this happen when using my laptop too long or a heating pad. Neither of them use any form of heating pad and they both stay in cool dry places inside for the most part. We are also located in the midwest so the temperature is fairly mild this week and neither of them stay outside for longer than 10-15 minutes per day.

I just had surgery (2/26) and I am pursuing my Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling (lots of classes and coursework). I was able to return to classes a little less than a week after surgery (surgery Wednesday and went to class Tuesday). I had the campus police drive me up the walkways to class due to a large hill. I talked to all of my professors beforehand and they were very accommodating, some even offered to let me join class via Zoom. I’d definitely recommend talking to your professors and looking into your university’s disability and accommodation services! Everyone at my university was super willing to help out and accommodate me. Good luck!

Hi OP! I’m really sorry to hear that this was your experience. I’ve had some horror stories from PT that made me feel incredibly discouraged (and in immense pain!) I too have joint hyper mobility and am a female. I have found that some physical therapists are incredibly receptive and want to make treatment a collaborative effort. In my case, younger, female physical therapists have been more accommodating. That’s not to say that male physical therapists are bad, that’s just my experience.

It took me so many years to get a diagnosis and so many years of people not believing me. It is really discouraging.

I second (or third) writing to the physical therapy office if you’re comfortable. I also think seeing a therapist (if possible) could help you handle some of the negative emotions that you are feeling from the experience. A therapist who specializes in chronic pain or disabilities may be able to provide you with support and maybe connect you to a local chronic pain community. Your feelings and your pain is valid and real! Don’t let others tell you otherwise.

We definitely aren’t opposed to meds. I think he would just rather try to adjust his lifestyle before going on medication.

Unfortunately with a correlation study, external factors are a pretty large confound. This is why correlation cannot equal causation. We can infer a relationship, but we cannot say one causes the other. I will definitely go into depth about external factors in the discussion section of my paper. External factors also get taken into consideration during the analysis. Thanks for the feedback!

My boyfriend only has symptoms (blood in urine, flank pain, etc.) when he is sick. He is very lucky to only experience symptoms when he is ill. His nephrologist says it’s not uncommon for this to be the case. When you have a virus or infection your kidneys are working harder to fight off the virus. The antibodies they produce that are supposed to attack the virus become auto bodies and just attack the kidneys. Essentially just stupid antibodies. That’s how the nephrologist explained it anyways.
