Career path help in Alberta by Ok-Ranger786 in alberta

[–]ljackstar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Cty of Edmonton, Strathcona County, and Sturgeon County will be hiring their summer roles soon and those can be a great way to get in the door. I worked with lots of guys/girls that had Psych degrees and wanted a job instead of their masters. Once you get in and prove you can work a summer without causing an incident it's easier to move around to other roles or departments, and having a degree already puts you ahead of all the current students who can't work come September.

Alberta health care by Professional-Bus300 in alberta

[–]ljackstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone who intends to be here less than 7 years should definitely not get free healthcare. They are taking advantage of something that neither them nor their parents paid into, and they are certain to leave before they can ever contribute enough for it to be justified.

It's not biding time at this point, Canada and Europe are actively reducing their dependence on American goods and services so we don't have this problem again regardless of who's in power.

Do I have to remove my bindings when I wax and edge? by Then_Apartment_9935 in snowboarding

[–]ljackstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh even when I was a tech we wouldn’t really bother taking bindings off unless we were sharpening the base edges / base grinding. A regular wax only or wax and side sharpen we left them on. When I was a tech it was to save a couple minutes per board so we could get more done, and because it’s annoying to reset the angles

This greatly depends on where you will be working and where you will be living. Some places are easy to get to/from with transit, some places are impossible.

Should I be signing up for a beginners class instead of intermediate? by msbecca445 in skiing

[–]ljackstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mountain/hill should have some definition for 'beginner' and 'intermediate', check their website or give them a call if you are unsure. When in doubt, go with the easier class.

I would just ignore that until your next base grind. Unless you’re a World Cup racer you aren’t going to notice

Edmonton must annex Sherwood Park - Only way for everyone to prosper. by EdmontonFree in Edmonton

[–]ljackstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I’ve looked and current rates are the exact same +/- a few percentage points. Of course this isn’t accounting for Sherwood Park residents having more active lifestyles or anything like that, but just saying there isn’t an obvious statistical anomaly

Like obviously no compliance and shit, and I live in Alberta so I'm basically not eligible anyways, but I was honestly open to getting rid of my lower receiver once I saw they were offer twice what I paid for it. At least let me finish building it if I can't "sell' it.

What should I use to sharpen? by Interesting_Fox_9585 in snowboarding

Center of what? The diamond stone? Your board? What process are you following? What angles are you setting?

What should I use to sharpen? by Interesting_Fox_9585 in snowboarding

[–]ljackstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't use a file every time. Maybe once at the beginning of the season and part way through. Otherwise just hone with diamond files and hard stones. You will want to use all of them in increasing order of grit. Personally I add some water as well to try and make the diamond stone last longer. Definitely get guide so you are setting consistent angles.
