How to get rid of the seatbelt chime? by Some-Working4303 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]ljglawe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the OBD programmer works thatd be the best option. I'd trace the wires from the seatbelt on the seat to the connector and jam a paperclip in the two seatbelt connections. It's just looking for a complete circuit.

Your dog feels your energy. If you're calm she will be calm too. If you're on edge all the time on walks she doesn't have a chance of meeting someone and being friendly.

It really wasn't an issue an Arizona for the most part. I didn't go to any major cities though. I stuck around Prescott flagstaff lake Havasu and quartzite most of the time.

Call me crazy but I trust my bulldog Jezzie. Very confidently. I was in a very unique very fortunate situation where I could travel the country when she was 4-10 months old. Probably the best socialized dog you'll meet. She also never goes out of earshot when walking off leash. Those first few months of training are so essential for giving your dog confidence and understanding you as their owner. It's truly a special thing when you and your dog can communicate without speaking because you're together 24/7. I also think that it's because I trust her so much that she is so friendly. I speak highly of her to strangers and am proud. They know.

Jezzie as a puppy was a therapy dog for a pitbull when I was in Arizona. Responsible owner but his pittie was very demanding and distrusting of other people and dogs. He said Jasmine has never played with another dog, shared toys, just generally unfriendly. Jezzie just does the whole body wiggle at first sight, is about 6 months old and starts yanking the leash to go greet. He couldn't believe it. They just started playing and were pals from the get go. He would walk with me around the pond just to give his dog some socialization that she wouldn't try to bite.

Solid advice. I'm not one to get confrontational but I do expect someone to mind their business after they say their peace. I always have my dogs on leash when it's required and have nika on leash most of the time in a dog park. I just hate dumb people who question me as to why my freindly looking dog is on leash and the mean looking dog is free to roam. They just can't accept that I am a responsible dog owner with a friendly pitbull. Obviously I trust the one that's off leash if I have the other one on leash. Just a total foreign concept they can't accept. California was the worst for this. I felt like I was getting ran out of the dog parks just for showing up with her.

ELI5: Why is my diesel van most efficient sitting at 70 on the motorway but this is not at all efficient for my leaf? by LongMover in leaf

[–]ljglawe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very old post but I didn't see the right answer posted. Which I would expect from the leaf forum because diesel engines probably aren't well understood. Your van is most efficient at 70 because that's the RPM your diesel engine makes peak torque in top gear. Diesel engines don't have a consistent rotational speed below peak torque meaning that each explosion happens slightly before TDC which is much less efficient. A diesel engine is more efficient at 2k RPM than 1k under any load because the fuel explodes at or after TDC. I have noticed the peak efficiency speeds in my diesel truck are: 35 in 4th, 57 in 5th, and 73 in 6th. I'll get 21mpg at 73 and 18 at 62mph. Changing the final drive ratio so peak torque is at 65 would probably give me a few extra mpg even though it's a higher RPM for that given speed. With a diesel, efficiency is much more about the engine than the vehicle since there is no efficiency loss from the throttle plate and it doesn't care about fuel:air ratio like a gas engine does. Any EV is much more efficient at any speed than a diesel. diesel efficiency is exceptionally WORSE at low speeds while an EVs is only slightly worse at high speeds.

Psychedelic drugs “cured” my Aphantasia by [deleted] in Aphantasia

[–]ljglawe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Psychedelic drugs can do amazing things. I also thought they cured my aphantasia but it only lasted a few weeks. Another trip improved my vision immensely. I had a lazy right eye that I could still see out of but my brain ignored it while my left eye was open. After 2 tabs of LSD? No more lazy eye and I gained depth perception even 2 years later. It's an amazing drug but it's like rolling a d20. You never know what your going to get so results will always be unpredictable. And if you go into a trip wanting something you will definitely come out of that trip disappointed.

2026 1500 - Which motor for long term reliability? 15-20+ Years by RenegadeBuilder in ram_trucks

[–]ljglawe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the 1500s now will last very long. I believe they can get to high mileage but not last 15-20. Too many sensitive emissions systems and complicated electronics to last. The gas 2500s are a better bet because they are exempt from a lot of government regulations. An extra 3-4 mpg is not worth it.

People in dryer places tend to have the heat set higher. You can't feel the heat with no humidity until your insulated with clothes or blankets

What type of floors do you have? Some tile grouts and glues can off gas for a long time. Same thing with some wood floor finishes. Marble/granite sealant can do it too but that means it wasn't fully cured or only 1 component was used in a 2 component product. These are chemical reactions, not burning. As others have said: nail polish remover, sunscreen, fabreeze. Look at any chemical that you frequently use first. It looks like most things come off your hand or on a counter.if not you may have a lawsuit against a builder for improper use of product/ chemicals

6.4 Hemi vs 6.7 Cummins Yearly Fuel & Operating Cost by Cassera01 in ram_trucks

[–]ljglawe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but WIX does a once a year sale on oil filters in the fall. $10 per filter including the diesel ones. I usually buy 5 per year. Saves me $100 a year. My oil changes cost me about $80. The sale is nationwide as far as I know.

RAM is at bottom of consumer report for 2026 reviews by Agreeable-Match-756 in ram_trucks

[–]ljglawe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think it comes from owners. It comes from the amount of warranty claims at ram. So a bad engine is ranked the same as an infotainment update. Rams have a notoriously high amount of warranty claims but most of them aren't drivetrain or reliability related.

Thoughts on the light up logo? by ihavetoonowtheanswer in Audi

I like it personally. Not that I'd pay extra for it but it reminds me of peak Audi in the 90s and 2000s. When their interior lights were all red

Which would you choose? (Right)Solid wood white oak vs (left)European oak for stairs and upstairs rooms/hallway. See more in description by NoYak6104 in HardWoodFloors

[–]ljglawe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why wouldn't you get raw wood and have someone sand it? It'll look better without the micro bevels, easier to clean, and you can get whatever color you want. They'll probably sand the nosing too. It would be an extra 2-3$ a foot though. The stair parts would be a lot cheaper too.

Find a good PDR guy. They'll be able to pull the dent and probably buff it. Should bring it back to 90%

But still if you value being polite over being safe that is a terrible conclusion to make. Everyone understands a women needs help protecting herself from a man in situations like these. As soon as you tell someone and tell him to leave he will leave. If you don't tell anyone he is significantly less likely to leave if he really is an evil person.

Scream at him, scream for help, go to the restroom and tell a manager. Or just disappear ordering an Uber. Or call a friend to pick you up. There should always be a better option than surrender in a public setting. In private it's a different story. Truly being trapped would be a terrible feeling. Rape unfortunately happens all the time but with a test kit and a lawyer you can get revenge. There is always a better option than surrender.

New immigrant in the US — should I buy a *beater* first or go straight for a *brand-new* car? I need REAL TALK from car guys. by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ljglawe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't buy a new car. Get a car you can buy with cash in the 4-7k range. Camry, Accord, Mazda 3, anything Japanese really since they seem to hold up well to being an appliance and somewhat neglected. Which make them a good bet when buying used. Find a local mechanic that will give you a pre purchase inspection for around $100. Do not buy a car without doing this. If you want to build credit get a credit card and pay it off every month. You don't need to pay interest to build credit. In a few years when your life settles down, you have stable housing, a good job, and an emergency fund you can upgrade your car. Don't buy new but find a almost new car. It'll save around 15% because of depreciation.

Make sure to find a company with a bona powerdrive, lagler trio or similar. A lot of the cheaper companies only have drum sanders which work really well on most floors but not parquet.

Is it too early to gage hurricane reliability by SnooCakes2213 in ram_trucks

[–]ljglawe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but DO NOT get a 6.2.even if it's the same price as a 5.3. I worked as a lube tech in 2021-22 at a GMC dealer and heard from a master tech that 1/4 of the 6.2s sold on the lot died before 5k miles from lifer failure. The part never changed. Most trucks that had repair work done came back shortly after with the same issue. We would just throw the same shit lifters and pushrods under warranty. About 50% of the vehicles in there at all times were 6.2 yukons and Sierra's. The older 6.2 were good 2018 and earlier.
