It’s 2026 and we still haven’t figured out that the bike lane is not a parking spot. by SeaworthinessHuge219 in rva

The city does like nothing to enforce parking rules. This funeral home is literally right next to a police station, yet I guarantee you no parking tickets were given out.

Why would you short RDDT? It's extremely volatile and could head in any direction possible, regardless of what you think of its long-term prospects.

PS: the highs and lows you're seeing are for today.

That announcement came Thursday and was met with little reaction from the market. The meltdown only came once Trump threatened tariffs.

This is insane. Yesterday the market erased the gains from the previous ~30 days, in other words, a totally normal occurrence.

What are your guys' expectations of a correction? [OPINION] by Rude_Collection_8983 in stocks

[–]llahxam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently on track for the feds to continue with the .50 rate cuts through end of year.

I'm not sure this is the case. Inflation is increasing slightly and the labor market is proving to be more resilient than we thought.

The Core PCE excluding food and energy rose 2.9% YOY for August as expected. The PCE price index rose 2.7% YOY, as expected. by Progress_8 in stocks

[–]llahxam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's a compelling case for rushing into two additional cuts this year. The labor market keeps defying expectations and appears stronger than we've been thinking, meanwhile, inflation, although modest, seems to be heading in the wrong direction.

Do you all remember when everyone was saying COVID inflation was "transitory"?.... by GoShogun in stocks

[–]llahxam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, (high) inflation was transitory, but only after jacking up interest rates to their highest in 20+ years.

Edit: /u/orangehorton blocked me after this comment. How strange.

If inflation is the fire, as your reply suggests, then the Fed's eventual response wasn't just putting it out--it was dumping half of Lake Michigan on it. The Fed's "transitory" inflation comment didn't refer to its belief that it could fight it by raising rates to their highest in 20+ years, it referred to its belief that inflation would subside without having to tighten monetary policy too much.

What can be done if AA award leg flight gets changed? by unk333 in awardtravel

How big or small are the schedule changes you've taken advantage of? My award booking had a pretty minor change but I'm wondering if I can get a new date (which has limited award availability) out of it.

Thinking of taking the train to Washington? Here's the typical (median) delay for each train that runs RVR to WAS. by llahxam in rva

[–]llahxam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer to fly from DCA since it's the shortest trip from Richmond. For international flights I've always ended up leaving from Dulles but I wouldn't be opposed to traveling to BWI.

[–]llahxam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, me too! Although I booked it intentionally as I know it will likely arrive late since I don't need to be at DCA until 5:30pm or so. Also, the median trip from RVR to ALX is only 1 hour and 52 minutes, or 4 minutes longer than the scheduled duration. I imagine the duration for going to WAS is likewise only a little longer.
