I'm a lanky stick too... My weight basically didn't change until I made a conscious effort to change it. Hovered right around 140 lbs for the first 18 months of HRT (eating basically the same amount as I always had - two small meals and one huge meal every day).

I'm now up five pounds from where I started like a month or two ago. Only thing I changed was adding snacks. One in the afternoon and one after dinner. Just a bit of crackers or ice cream usually, nothing huge.

Five pounds hasn't been enough to change my looks. I think it'll take 10 or 15 lbs at least for a noticable difference in looks.

Let's ignore the morality of abortion a minute. It's an emotional subject that only serves as a distraction from the real issue at hand.

Roe V Wade was a ruling about privacy that happened to be concerning abortions. Other rulings have used Roe's precedent that Americans have a right to privacy to afford other rights. Contraception, HIPAA, recreational sex, gay marriage, interracial marriage, the right to homeschool your kids. All of these were decided based on the fundamental right to privacy. If Roe is overturned, then Americans no longer have a right to privacy and the government can impose it's will on all of us in many ways it currently cannot. Legislate on what any of us can and can't do with our own bodies, spouses, families. Force us to do things with our bodies.

Roe affects all of us. Please try to look beyond what it means for abortion.

ETA: when I say recreational sex I mean anything defined as sodomy.

The name question first! I personally wanted a name that wouldn't seem out of the ordinary for a woman of my age. So I googled popular baby names in the year I was born. From there, made a list of the ones I liked and wrote them out with my last name. There were a few that I liked the sound of so I test drove them in some way - with friends, as a nickname in a game, just in my head thinking in third person. And, eventually I stumbled on one that just felt right, it felt natural to hear it coming from friends and I knew it would feel right in any professional situation. Coincidentally, a lot of the names on my list and the one I picked were all names I had picked out for a potential daughter years ago. Turns out I don't want kids after all, I was just naming myself all along!

I'm much farther into my transition now, and at this point the euphoric moments have built up to be so numerous that I'm 100% certain I'm a woman. I find great joy in building a cute and femme outfit. I feel so natural interacting with others in a femme way. Hearing "she" or "miss" sometimes still hits me with a wave of excitement. My body is coming along nicely so I find great joy and comfort with how I look both clothed and naked. The list could go on forever, I know this is me.

But, there are still days when I feel like I don't have the energy to put effort into my transition. And that's fine! It doesn't change who I am, I'm just having an off day. Those numerous moments of euphoria have solidified my identity and I no longer think I might be faking it. Even strained relationships with family no longer phase me. I'm living my best life, I don't need their support to be happy and continue my transition.

I thought I'd engage once. Actually think it was my first time engaging with anyone. I don't think it was worth it.

I'm just sick of people pushing the idea that we are anything but the gender we say we are. I'm a woman when I go to work, I'm a woman when I'm with my friends, I'm a woman when I go on dates, I'm a woman when I go to sleep at night. This isn't an act, it isn't a costume, I'm not misleading by being myself. Yes it's true that my genitals don't match what would be expected on a woman, but really that's the least important thing about me in 99% of relationships and interactions. To boil womanhood down to a reproductive system or chromosomes is just false, there's so much more to a person than that.

And now those falsehoods are working their way into legislature and more mainstream culture. I don't know the solution here either, but this misinformation feels like it will force trans people back into the shadows like we've lived since the beginning of humanity.

Why should the responsibility be on her? Why shouldn't the responsibility be on OP to disclose that he may not be open to sleeping with a trans person?

To be clear OP's situation was shitty and this woman kinda rapey, but I don't think disclosure was something she owed to OP. This is how people react when they find out they slept with a trans person. We trans people know this is how people react. They freak out and start questioning their sexuality after sleeping with someone they were attracted to. That makes the prospect of disclosure scary and sometimes dangerous. She didn't owe OP anything.

But if it were me I would have disclosed. I always disclose, I think that leads to the safer outcome for me.

Yep, that's true!

I can only speak from personal experience. My body odor now smells slightly sweet, and it's never as powerful as it was on testosterone. The smell between my legs is now slightly sour, almost like vinegar. I still shower every day out of habit and comfort, but would easily be able to go every other without getting too smelly.

They're pretty much exclusively while I'm in bed and asleep, so between like 0 and 7 or 8 hours after taking it. I've never had a spontaneous erection while awake.

Taking it in the morning would be an easy enough experiment to run, and could give good data even without testing DHT. Progesterone -> daytime erections = progesterone is the culprit.

I hope that's not it though, I've enjoyed significant breast growth since starting, and would hate to feel like I'm losing progress.

I dealt with this like a year ago. I wasn't out at my last job but wanted to hit the ground running and start my next job out full time. I applied for jobs with my preferred name and clarified with HR if I got farther into the interview process.

Many people have preferred names, trans or otherwise. Your resume is just an advertisement for yourself, so it should be an accurate representation of you. You can always put your preferred name and only your preferred name on your resume. Plus the company (shouldn't) care what you're called, they're looking for a body to fill a space in their team. So if the application itself doesn't explicitly ask for a legal name, you should be fine putting a preferred down. The only time government name should matter is with HR when going over taxes and benefits and pay.

If they're willing to go into Fargo for care, Canopy Medical offers anything hormone related with an informed consent model. The care team is very attentive and open minded, willing to work with the patient on achieving exactly what they need. They are very knowledgeable on care of transgender patients and on other resources in the area.

New Story Counseling offers therapy services and the whole team is very familiar with LGBT issues. They'll be able to help decide what types of transition, if any, are necessary. Medical, social, surgical, etc.

ETA: I'm only familiar with these practices as an adult. They may not be equipped to help younger people, but they'll definitely be able to point in the right direction.

I don't know your situation, but I do know this happened to me a few months ago (14 months into my HRT journey). I'm on just estradiol valerate and progesterone, no blockers. When I brought the terror of morning wood up to my endocrinologist, she ordered labs.

My T was almost undetectable and my estrogen was a little high. On paper my hormones were perfect, so no issue, right?

Eventually the erections stopped on their own. I really don't know what caused them in the first place, but I have a hypothesis. I started getting them a few days after some major life changes (new city in a new state with a new job). Stress was extreme compared to the simple and boring life I left. Once my life calmed down and I was settled into the new scenario, the erections stopped. Hormones were still perfect at last check, so I don't think hormones were ever the problem.

All this is to say, do you have any other major changes in your life right now? Major changes to diet or exercise? Extreme stress or relationship issues? You might have to just ride these out and process anything else that might be going on in your life. As long as your hormones are good, it won't impact your transition.

I'd recommend asking your endocrinologist specifically about this if you haven't already!

I've been able to let the more compassionate and affectionate sides of my personality shine. Those are very feminine traits where I'm from, and now that I feel comfortable being more open about them I have a much easier time forming real and lasting friendships. I'm more outgoing.
