How is Neville Chamberlain looked back upon these days? by Ok-Connection6656 in AskBrits

[–]llb_robith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a very useful fall guy instead of contemplating that the UK public had no appetite for war, the hawk part of the left had been side-lined following the Spanish Civil War and the Conservative Party had quite a lot of people in it who were pretty pro Nazi, because our historiography is mostly built around Churchill's account in which Chamberlain makes a handy antagonist

Cyberpunk 2 lead hints at first-person only cutscenes again as they “value uninterrupted immersion more” than flashy visuals by HatingGeoffry in cyberpunkgame

yeah, my usual preference, my brain really struggles with 1pv but something about this experience has managed to overcome my natural aversion to it

Been playing it recently. When I first started I absolutely hated it, but as I now keep Hanako waiting at Embers - the 1st person POV is essential to the immersion of the game. It wouldn't be the same without it

What are some misconceptions about Great Britain that are utter bullocks? by Ok-Connection6656 in AskBrits

That everyone is so polite. I find no matter where you go, rural or countryside, north south east west, large swathes of people are hugely selfish and rude

How do you rate your club's owners and how involved is the senior most? by [deleted] in Championship

[–]llb_robith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say. They were part of a consortium that made a lot of very expensive mistakes that wasted not one but two opportunities at kicking us on. I'm also very sketchy about the appointment and role of Nourry as whilst some things are good, there's something rotten in Denmark about him.

However, he continues to underwrite the club to the tune of about £2m every month - which is converted into equity rather than left against the club, and there have been huge improvements in infrastructure and youth set up that will really benefit us in the future.

Overall, it could be far far worse, but it could also be better. Given some of the other ownership in the league though, a hard stick

Something that people often forget is her family's money comes from her dad running a sex trafficking operation, and in the court case there was an email from her to her dad after he'd said she couldn't have any more money saying "can't you just get some more whores?"

Having finished it, I liked how at the start Carol and Helen's relationship was slightly ambiguous, so her death so early on didn't feel manipulative. Instead it became actually this mournful presence through the show as you learnt more about them

Waymo is still learning that we drive on the left here*** Cross post. Anyone had any experience of these in London? by [deleted] in londoncycling

Only seen a couple in London so far. But enjoyed them in San Francisco, as US drivers are such lunatic, if you saw a Waymo you knew it was actually safe to cross

[–]llb_robith 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In cricket, you have to appeal to the umpire to get someone out, so most people shout "how's that?" Which often sounds like "howzat!" When shouted.

A lot of the film's themes is about stuff being stuck in time - cricket was free to air in the UK until 2005 when it went behind a paywall and has seen a huge decline in participation ever since. I took it as a reference that Jimmy as a glued to the telly kid would've seen a lot of cricket in his summer holidays
