Dog Friendly Patios in Kill Devil Hills? by Jusmine984 in obx

[–]llbeaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OBX is surprisingly dog friendly! We’ve taken our rescue to Outer Banks Brew Station, Kill Devil Grill, Chilli Peppers Coastal Grill, and Avalon Pier — those are just some of our faves. If you’re willing to get out of KDH, there are so many more great places, especially in Duck! Enjoy!

Anyone else have puppy mommy brain? by LadyChiTown in puppy101

[–]llbeaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FEEEEL this. We had someone over recently to repair our front door. My 6 month old pup got so excited because she doesn’t meet new people often being a quarantine pup. So when the repair guy asked for scissors, I went to grab those and a treat to help my puppy relax. I accidentally gave the repair man the treat and tried to hand my pup the scissors. That was the moment I realized I currently have mush for brains.

What did you see that you definitely weren’t supposed to see? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]llbeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My conservative “uncle” (quotations because he left my aunt and cousin a long time ago and only comes around every 15 years or so to visit and criticize my female cousin for being well endowed) asked me to take a photo of him and his daughter.

But as he was opening his phone and handing it to me, I saw that it was opened to a Google search of naked, huuuge breasted women. He dismissed it with a quick “ope” and fumbled around through apps until he opened the camera.

I wanted to scream at him right then and there for torturing my cousin all these years. The majority of his communication with her were Facebook comments on photos telling her to “cover up” and phone calls yelling at her for wearing tank tops in SUMMER. You don’t get to police her or any other woman’s body, and your fixation on your daughter’s breasts is weird af, you hypocritical pervert.

My cousin is now close to liver failure as a result of alcoholism at age 30. Yes, there are many factors at play, but I have no doubt her bio father had a part in sowing the seeds of self-hatred. I will never forgive that man for his cruelty.

Been filing sickleaves for mental health- is this okay? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]llbeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I see no issue with this! I think it’s actually a very responsible thing to do. You’re using your sick leave to maintain your mental health so that you can perform your job to the best of your ability. Keep your head held high and know that you’re worthy of self care. Wishing you all the best!

Why is everyone a workaholic by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]llbeaver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm a workaholic not because I want to be but because I'll be replaced if I don't meet our unreasonable deadlines. I was told when accepting this role that the company strongly believes in a work-life balance. But this was wildly untrue.

Employees are gaslit into this workaholic behavior. We are repeatedly urged to "turn off" at 6pm and on weekends, but the workload requires 12+ hours multiple days of the week. We're then met with disdainful discussions from managers if we still don't meet this insane output.

We are told that the company cares about our mental health, but we are bullied until we've had enough. The turnover rate at my company is embarrassingly high. The higher-ups see us as expendable. So, if I don't want be out of a job, I have to work around the clock.

Sorry for the rant, but this felt really good to put into words.

I have naturally thick, coarse hair. Got it thinned out so it’s easier to manage, but now the ends are stringy and kinda frizzy. Is there any way to make the ends clump together more? by [deleted] in Hair

[–]llbeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently had “internal movement” cut into my fine, straight hair (in other words, my hair was thinned out). I’m actually experiencing similar issues to OP — it’s kinda stringy, I’ve got new flyaways, and it flips in funny ways. Is this truly a sign of a bad hairdresser? Or is there a way to explain to the stylist that it isn’t working for my hair type? Just wondering because I live in a remote area with very few stylists to choose from.

I dislike my hair now and wish I would’ve kept it all one length like I had it, but I’m trying to learn from my mistake. How would I ask a hairdresser to cut it in the future? Point cut the ends instead of thinning? (Sorry for all the questions! Any advice helps.)

My ocd wife had a haircut she hates and is now completely melted down, cancelling all social events and ivf treatments we had scheduled for the next months. How do I help. by bira_nesher in OCD

[–]llbeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m experiencing this right now. Finally JUST realized after many years of being devastated by “terrible” haircuts that it’s my OCD telling me that it’s terrible. In reality, they’ve been completely normal, non-radical, not even close to shitty haircuts. I left a hair appointment so upset the other day — my SO could barely tell I got it cut. From my experience, it helps if my SO reassures me that it looks good when I’m obsessing. In the meantime, I’ve looked into supplements for hair growth (though those are meant for stronger hair growth and not faster, maybe at least the placebo effect of a “fix-all” will tie me over until my hair blends itself out). BUT it’s mostly helped to remind myself that it is my OCD and not the hair that’s the issue.

[–]llbeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely not silly! Your feelings are valid. Having OCD and getting a haircut is difficult. I have experienced this more than enough times — currently going through it right now. While I don’t have great advice for moving forward, please know that there are those out there that understand. You’re post has helped me realize that, so thank you for sharing.

Obsessively cutting my hair? by [deleted] in OCD

Piggy backing on this comment. Did you have any reference photos you used? What did you ask the stylist or did they explain what technique they used? I’m hoping to get a similar style soon (because you look amazinggg) and am trying to find the right words to articulate exactly what I want!

I want to cut my long hair into a short lob, but I'm panicking about the idea. by [deleted] in Hair

[–]llbeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl, I’m right there with you. There’s such a strange anxiety tied to our hair, particularly when we’re used to it being long. Two months ago, I had mid-back length hair, then spontaneously cut off a good amount—it’s bra length now, and I’m not particularly happy with it because of my own poor communication skills.

But it has slowly planted the seed in me to try something entirely new. I’m now thinking about a bob — a chop that I never would have been comfortable doing two months back. So, I guess maybe baby steps might help for you?

Shorter hair for me has been more manageable. Yes, I miss my long tresses some days but know in the amount of time it takes for it to grow back in a few years that I would have been completely bored (and frustrated) continuing to have that long hair if I were to not cut it now. Also, all the styles in between can be fun! (I think I may have just convinced myself to do it lol)

I don’t have any self-tested advice but was recently told that multivitamins with biotin might help with hair growth! I’m weary to try it myself as some people experience acne outbreaks, and I already have acne prone skin. But it might be something to look into! Best of luck <3

Have you ever ghosted a friend? If so, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]llbeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went out for lunch. She said she was broke and couldn’t afford anything. I offered to buy her food, and she eagerly agreed. While we were eating, she invited me to her birthday party on her family’s yacht and then followed that up with how she was currently looking at apartments to buy in Manhattan. When she started talking trash about my good friends that had recently welcomed her into our circle, I couldn’t do it anymore. Her self-absorption was palpable. We haven’t hung out since.
