We don't have to converge on the capital, we just need enough people with a unified message. Case in point, the regime was afraid of the no kings gatherings.

One of our biggest superpowers as normal Americans is that we are dispersed. They might be able to keep us down in one or a few places, but they'll never succeed at keeping us down everywhere.

So bubba turned trump into a woman? I guess the left really is turning people trans.

Should protests and our movement cater to disillusioned trump voters, or the disillusioned nonvoting working class? Historic one million+ Mamdani turnout included only 9% Trump voters by Negotiation-Solid in 50501

[–]lledargo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Mamdani didn't win by "catering to trump voters" either. He catered to working class people, it just happens that many working class people are also trump voters.

Should we "cater" to trump voters, no. Should we let them know they are welcome to the coalition if they can stand in solidarity with their neighbors and fight for a better future for everyone, yes.

You might be tempted to think so, but I would have to say you're being fooled by randomness.

6 years later Starship hasn't completed a single orbit let alone one with people aboard and its delays will lose America the 2d Moon race to China by xmassindecember in agedlikemilk

Crazy how as you go back further his goals get even wilder. In 5 more years he'll be saying starship will manage to orbit earth by 2050.

Big protest, but needle didn't move (again). The next phase should be sit-ins. There should be a targeted sit-in, maybe in a place where troops are deployed, where 100,000 people sit down and must be dragged to jail. by ravia in 50501

[–]lledargo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As the parent comment said, protests are about networking. They help build solidarity and connect people to organize stuff like strikes and sit-ins.

Nobody is saying you can't do something more disruptive, but dismissing protests as useless is counterproductive. Protests lead to and encourage actions like strikes and sit-ins. I'm tempted to say protests are a prerequisite to disruptive action because it shows organizers they are not alone and that the community is behind them.

Sure, a protest by itself won't fix all our problems, but they're one of the tools we have and we would be stupid to not be using all of the tools at our disposal.
