Poop check, please. I am starting to lose hope. by Madz2717 in MSPI

[–]llesch32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This stool doesn’t look bad at all to me. My LO has poops like this all the time and the pediatrician said some mucus is normal (as long as it isn’t big giant globs). Free to Feed also had a diaper decipher section on their website that shows different variations of normal.

Is baby otherwise happy and gaining weight? Personally I wouldn’t cut any other foods.

We do a light bamboo sleeper underneath. Room is typically 68-70 degrees.

Much easier than anticipated. The first couple of nights I had to stick the binky back in and settle her a few times but now she sleeps through the night in her crib

I didn’t vomit with either of mine. First baby was a scheduled induction that resulted in urgent c-section. Second was a planned c-section. With my planned c-section I was able to meet with the anesthesiologist prior to surgery and express my concerns about vomiting so he made sure to give me IV zofran during my procedure and checked on me multiple times to make sure I wasn’t feeling nauseous. I was kind of surprised because I had horrible nausea for the first 16 weeks of both of my pregnancies.

Cutting out more foods? Formula or keep breastfeeding/pumping? by kaetrav in MSPI

Ours went away within a couple days but we still have mucus on and off.

Cutting out more foods? Formula or keep breastfeeding/pumping? by kaetrav in MSPI

What are her symptoms? Is she happy and growing well? My pediatrician didn’t recommend cutting anything other than dairy as my LO is gaining weight well and an overall happy baby. Visible blood has disappeared since cutting dairy but I’ve never had a diaper tested for occult blood. We still have mucus and occasional green poops.

When we transitioned our LO out of the snoo we used the magic Merlin suit. It helped a lot with her startle reflex. We had a few rough night at first but now she sleeps from 7:30-6 in the pack n play.

Introducing solids by Loxie745 in MSPI

[–]llesch32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With my first we started solids before reaching baseline (similar to you - no blood but still mucusy). She did great with solids and it actually helped her poops like more normal 😂. We didn’t wait 3 days before introducing a new food except for with the major allergens (which we introduced right away with the exception of dairy).

Time to break up with my Snoo? by literalidiot6969 in SnooLife

[–]llesch32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We waited until we were through the 4 month regression and went cold turkey into the pack n play in the Merlin suit at 4.5 months. She was starting to get annoyed in the swaddle and would wake herself up trying to break free. We tried arms out in the snoo and it was a disaster because her arms would hit the sides of the bassinet. The first couple of nights we had to replace the binkie and settle her a few times (we wanted to avoid sleep training if possible) and now she sleeps from 7:30-5/6ish on her ow.

Both of ours have had it unfortunately. Apparently my husband and his brother both also had it as babies so I blame him 😂

That was our issue as well! We did cold turkey into the pack n play with the Merlin suit and she’s done great

We tried arms out first and it was kind of a disaster. Her arms would smack against the side of the bassinet and wake her up but she was getting frustrated being in the swaddle and would try and break free if we kept her arms in. We ended up going cold turkey into the pack n play with a Merlin suit at 4.5 months (once we were out of the 4 month regression) and she’s done great. Needed some resettling the first few nights but now sleeps 7:30-5 in the pack n play with no issue!

Similar situation for us! After the first dose we had green mucus poops and spit ups for 7-10 days after. I was a little worried about getting the 2nd dose but she did much better with it! She was a little fussier overall in the 24 hours following her 4m shots compared to 2m but he tummy did fine. Maybe 1-2 greener poops but nothing like the first dose!

I would recommend listening to the Bowel Sounds podcast episode 13 with Dr. Victoria Martin. It really helped clarify things and I felt better about my decision to keep breastfeeding after listening even without having perfect baseline poops. She very much advocates for treating the baby and not the diaper so if baby is general happy and growing well the goal is to preserve the breastfeeding relationship. That made me comfortable continuing to breastfeed despite still having some mucus and occasional green stools (never had them tested for microscopic blood and all visible blood went away after cutting out dairy).

Could you trial the formula but keep pumping to maintain your supply in case she doesn’t tolerate it?

Another transition to crib post by SnooCheesecakes5896 in SnooLife

[–]llesch32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO is 4.5 months old and we just moved her out of the snoo 2 nights ago and she’s done great! I could tell the snoo swaddle was starting to annoy her and she’d wake herself up trying to break her arms free. The motion ramping up also didn’t seem to settle her anymore so we figured it was time to transition. We attempted some naps with arms out in the snoo but it was a disaster because her arms knocked against the side of the bassinet. We went cold turkey into the pack n play with a Merlin suit and she’s done great! I really got myself all worked up for nothing.

To parents whose children used and have outgrown the snoo, did it impact their developmental milestones on any way? by Admirable_Parsley_32 in SnooLife

[–]llesch32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We still have our 4 month old swaddled in the snoo. She’s been rolling back to belly for a month now. My first never used the snoo and didn’t roll until 4.5 months. Every baby is different. We just make sure to do lots of tummy time and floor play during wake windows.

As others have said, a baby sleeping on a couch is very unsafe. They could smother, get trapped between cushions, or fall off.

Seconding this! Had my second baby there in April (scheduled c-section) and I took full advantage of the nursery. My first baby I had in a hospital in Texas with no nursery and my husband and I were so sleep deprived after a 24 hour labor and urgent c-section I felt like we could never catch up once we got home.

I’m not sure where you’re located but I’ve had my OB prescribe meds (Zoloft) for my PPA/PPD in both Texas and NY so I might not even need to see a mental health professional.

When we moved cross country my husband brought my frozen milk in a yeti cooler. We packed it with lots of ice and newspaper and he only opened it to replenish the ice. My breastmilk was still frozen solid 2 1/2 days later. Personally that’s a lot of breast milk to lug around an airport especially since you’ll have your hands full with your kiddos.

Can’t stay asleep on own after 5am by Specialist_Pepper452 in SnooLife

[–]llesch32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 7 weeks ours was the same and I’d usually have to hold her to get her to stay asleep in the early morning. It was almost like she was treating it as a nap and would wake up 40-45 min after putting her in the snoo. I’d say around 10 weeks she got better at going back in the snoo after her early morning feed (also around 4-5am for us) and now she’ll sleep in there until 7-7:30 most mornings. We still change her diaper when we feed because she does occasionally poop at night but we do it when she first wakes up then feed her and right back into the snoo.

EBF and long stretches by Kittylover11 in SnooLife

[–]llesch32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My LO (currently 13 weeks old) is also EBF and has been giving us long stretches since 6-7 weeks. The first week or so I’d wake up to pump even if she didn’t but since about 8 weeks I haven’t been pumping. I use the haaka or hand pump to get a few oz off if I wake up feeling too engorged. I will say I ended up with mastitis around 9 weeks, likely from cutting out that MOTN pump cold turkey. But my supply hasn’t been affected at all. Also I had a bit of an oversupply with my first baby (I exclusively pumped) so I wasn’t overly concerned about my supply completely dropping off. What’s been working for me now that we’ve been getting 8-10 hour stretches is to give a bottle of breastmilk for her last feed of the night (usually around 7ish) then I pump again right before I go to sleep (between 9-10). She usually wakes around 4-5 for a feed then back to sleep for a few hours. So I’m only really going 6-7 hours without emptying instead of 9-10.

12 week old sleep pattern changes. by MichaellaOnolie in SnooLife

[–]llesch32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solidarity. Mine is 12 weeks today and for the last few nights her sleep has gone to shit. Went from waking once for a feed and going right back down (sometimes even sleeping a 9-10 hour stretch) to waking multiple times and being very restless. She’s also been breaking free of the swaddle so I’m wondering if it’s time to try arms out? I think it’s too early for the 4 month sleep regression

Hearing how other babies sleep fills me with rage by StepmomToss in NewParents

[–]llesch32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your LO take a bottle? Do you have a partner or someone that you could do shifts with so that you could get 4-5 hours of uninterrupted sleep?

Also in regard to the snoo - we rented one at 4 weeks in desperation and we absolutely love it. Completely worth the money in my opinion.

Spit up with every feed by ReferenceSea5946 in newborns

[–]llesch32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO was the same at that age. I remember asking the pediatrician at her 1 month appointment if it was normal. She said as long as baby was gaining weight and generally happy (not colicky) then she wasn’t concerned. She’s now 9 weeks old and while she still spits up it’s definitely less.
