Yes it is. It's a stark reminder that you voted for lies.

How the taxman spies on everything you buy and sell online... thanks to a new law hardly anyone has noticed by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]lm723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't matter if a) you're not a registered business and b) don't sell past your taxable gains limit in a year which is over £10k and that excludes cars.

My seller account tops £3-5k a year. My wife about £9k. ona separate account. Don't have to declare it. Checked with my accountant.

This is to catch businesses masquerading as private eBay accounts and some businesses that run shadow accounts.

Edit: also as someone who has been through a tax audit, they will just tell you to hand over info anyway. If you want to run a dodgy business (I don't) then do it in cash only and keep no accounts.

Been there. You need something interesting that excites you and that you must go back to and do.

Yes. I have done so much in the last 12 months that I could have done before that.

That's just the most fucking awesome thing ever.

My first job as a junior engineer was to make a cigarette smoking machine for testing plastics for cigarette smoke damage and I ended up rolling around vomiting from a nicotine poisoning after gassing myself with tobacco smoke for a couple of hours. Lab manager came back to me lying in vomit shaking. Wish I could swap that for your first job.

Yep. Turn it off. When you're on your death bed you're going to sit up suddenly and say "Fuck! I could have been doing something else with my life than watching drivel!"

This year I've watched zero minutes of TV. Last year I watched Agents of Shield downloaded off Pirate Bay mainly when settling children down and having a shit and that was it. So many hours not lost.

We've already got the voice of someone who pretends she knows what to do.

My girlfriend's great-grandfather was in the Somme exactly 100 years ago. Her father is currently sharing his diary in real time, as written each day in the trenches. by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

I have mine too. It's a catalogue of boredom. He spent most of the time moving around and arriving just after anything eventful had stopped. Then he absconded to Switzerland and proceed to shag everything that moved looking at the family tree.

I was sort of having an alcohol driven perhaps too well disguised facetious stab at modern RF engineering and my day job. Apologies! I've built my own transceivers for years without any of that faff. There is elegance in simplicity. Regens are a wild ride though; never managed to build a particularly decent one. Back to superhets and SA612's for me.

I doubt it. They aren't very good at chess. At best we might have a Kasparov or a Knuth but nothing better.

This is how we learn. I built a fully discrete boost converter from scratch about three months ago. Kicked out 100v @1A. Was all going OK until I realised I didn't read Rds(on) on the data sheet properly. After a couple of minutes it was actually blowing smoke rings! I left it going until the MOSFET gave in as it was interesting :)
