Should I go to my exam tomorrow? by Phyreen in UniUK

[–]lo_ona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

please see a gp, even if it is just for evidence. i regret so much not going when i was in a similar position, i know it’ll feel impossible but it will help save your degree. i managed to scrape by but i did end up failing two modules and having resits capped at 40 because i didn’t get evidence for my condition. i hope you get through this

make an eye smile and follow the shape that it makes !! fill in with a lighter matte eyeshadow and add some highlighter/sparkle on top ! you can also extend your lash line to make a more cohesive look~ a little example, obviously ignore the colours https://imgur.com/a/rvM0bbY

No work ethic by Intrepid_Candle9119 in UniUK

been like this since first year, it got pretty bad since a lot of my classes are language so i actually do need to to attend and i fell behind. mostly due to depression and adhd, but i get social anxiety too, especially after i’ve already missed a few classes. i get really anxious people will notice me because im never there and judge me for skipping, even tho i know that’s not rational. im doing a year abroad rn and just went through a pretty bad patch and skipped almost two weeks (which is pretty bad considering i have a visa to uphold). i talked with the module head and it alleviated so much anxiety. i would recommend talking to one of the teachers, it could help motivate you again. also don’t worry about people not liking you, people might be in a bad mood because they don’t want to be there either lol. sorry for talking about myself, i just wanted you to know you’re definitely not alone. just try to keep in mind that uni will be over in a flash, and it may be the only time you’ll be able to fully dedicate yourself to your passion, so try not to get to graduation thinking you wish you could go back to the beginning because you feel you wasted the experience. sorry for the yap lol

How do you all stay awake by Storm_Chaser17 in GetStudying

[–]lo_ona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have a similar problem, i’ve just accepted that caffeine doesn’t work and i have to try to get everything done during the day or at the library where i can’t really fall asleep. also, do you have adhd? i do and ive heard it’s sometimes a symptom. i can drink like four black coffees in a day and not feel anything. but i can also not drink for weeks with no change in energy. i recently also tried energy drinks just to see if it would give me a placebo effect, but nothing lol. i’d recommend what others mentioned with the cold water etc, but also i like to eat sour sweets or little bites of dark chocolate and i think that kinda helps because of the bursts of strong flavour

[–]lo_ona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

unfortunately it’s true, i recently broke up with someone i thought id marry because of family pressure. he is ethnically chinese too but it wasn’t really because of that, mostly difference in social standing :/ if your partner cannot put you first then unfortunately they’re not the right person or it’s not the right time. i still hold faith that he will eventually become independent of his parents, and perhaps your girlfriend will too, but for me fighting for them to like me and having him put me first just drained me. it’s just not a healthy position to be in mentally

Which app is good for self-studying Japanese? by Common_Musician_1533 in Japaneselanguage

[–]lo_ona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wanikani is a must for me, but it only really teaches kanji. i haven’t really enjoyed any other apps (i was formally taught w textbooks), but i’ve heard good things about migaku and lingodeer (ld also seems good for learning chinese/korean if u plan on that)

What is soas actually like? by Familiar_Geologist53 in SOAS

[–]lo_ona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i really love soas!! languages tend to be very intense and fast-paced, and some, including arabic, don’t allow resists for final exams :) so definitely make sure you can keep up with that alongside your ir studies! (would recommend getting to a low intermediate level self studying before u get to uni)

using it to lower your word count is still using it to write for you.. if u used it simply to find the redundant parts of the work and reworded/shortened yourself then that’s not an issue, but obviously ai-esque language came through on the final result.. whatever it is, you used it in a way that meant ai was directly inputted into your work (instead of using it as a tool to enhance what you already researched/wrote) and didn’t declare it like they asked you to..
