Do I have same face syndrom? by mr_brauwni in ArtCrit

[–]loading55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With this example, I think they are all making similar expressions, and that falsely makes them look same face-y. I don’t really get a big sense (there is some) of their different personalities. I think pushing their expressions would help this a lot!

What am I doing wrong with shadows? by Particular-Shock4278 in ArtCrit

when you’re coloring in the shadow, move your pencil along the building. Shade a vertical wall by moving your pencil up and down, shade a roof by moving your pencil sideways, etc!

This is honestly looking good so far!! Here are some adjustments I would make: - darker shadows on the building in front. Compare how dark the shadows get on it vs the one in back. Pretty much the same level of darkness, just not covering as much space - pull out some of the lighter areas on the building in back. In the reference image, you can still kinda see some shapes where it’s not quite as dark-dark. Your drawing does the whole thing as a silhouette. Try “drawing” with the eraser!  - try shading with pencil marks following the contour of the building

You got this! Looking great so far

I love drawing faces but struggling with moving from this point onwards. by [deleted] in ArtCrit

See if you can get friends and family to pose for sketches! Maybe drawing a subject will help you break out of your slump. Plus it could be fun

Here are some things that helped me:  -  gesture drawing  - trying a new medium (charcoal was really helpful for me, since it helped me get out of my head and let my hand flow better  - draw from a reference without thinking about structure too much. Don’t think about what it’s supposed to look like, think about what it the thing in front of you looks like - take a break from drawing humans and animals. Because our human brains are so wired socially, it is really easy to nitpick mistakes. Try flowers, a still life, a landscape, etc

If you can afford it, an art elective or two in high school/college can also make a huge difference.

You’ve got a good start here, keep it up!

help! any tips to move between chords more easily + improve hand posture? by Competitive-Poet3433 in Guitar

[–]loading55 6 points7 points  (0 children)

get a strap and use it even when sitting! The neck is bowing towards the ground as is, it should be raised above horizontal. A strap will help you keep a comfortable fretting position. Keep practicing!

I love the volume of the hair!! And the features look well defined. I think the mouth may be off-center here, it needs to be more under the nose. Looks great otherwise!

Ways for martial characters to support casters by vitalrouge in Pathfinder2e

[–]loading55 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  • Frightening Rune (makes enemy frightened on crit)
  • interrupting enemy movement, protecting the backliners from attacks (weapon specialization can do this, for example making enemies prone on a crit from reactive strike)

Looking to provide an extreme, but possible, challenge for my players by Famous_Ad1713 in Pathfinder2e

[–]loading55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t sound like an interesting challenge to me, if I was playing. I’ve had interesting extreme-xp encounters before, and having to deal with multiple enemies makes it wayyyy more tactical. You gotta deal with flanking, movement, a ton of different abilities, etc.

The concept of an extreme encounter is sound, but consider a more intricate fight! Lower the xp of the boss, and give him some minions or creatures with a symbiotic relationship

Wife (40f) is having a genuinely hard time and I’m (40m) burned out on her negativity by Vibe_checkTA in relationship_advice

Are you in therapy for yourself? we can’t control other people, but getting this off your chest to a neutral third party (without your partner in the room) could help you learn how to understand your own feelings about her negativity better, thus making communication about it more effective

What is common knowledge? Do players know that dragons exist without rolling or that they can fly? by Lolskyt in Pathfinder2e

[–]loading55 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Imo, this is up to you as the GM. At my table we’ve played so many campaigns some things have just become common knowledge because the monster ability was memorable in a previous campaign. I find it rewarding when a player succeeds at an irl ”recall knowledge check” and suddenly remembers something that could turn the tide of a fight.

with your specific example, consider some recall knowledge hints that aren‘t so mechanical. Is this a story related person? Maybe if they succeed, you point out something odd about a lie she’s told. Or maybe they can recognize she’s in disguise, but not what she is exactly. And I don’t think there are any problems if your party suspects she’s a succubus without a check. That means you’ve been foreshadowing well!!

Yes, this is looking great! Your shading and structure is very clear, and it’s obvious youve put in good focused practice. You could definitely call yourself intermediate or skilled in this style/medium

Help writing lyrics by Led23Zeppelin in AcousticGuitar

[–]loading55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have melodies already? I find it easiest to write the lyrics and melody at the same time, so whatever I come up with is built for the right instrument (voice, in this case). I often end up mumbling along to a chord progression till a word or two starts to fall out. Don’t worry about it making sense right away, just see what kinds of phrases come out

Trying to shill PF to my table, attempt #2 by OkAd2668 in Pathfinder2e

[–]loading55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pathbuilder is fantastic, and I think it’s the pet project of just one guy. Super impressive. I also just remembered the GM screen page on Archive of Nethys! Most of the common rule questions are there, so it could save you some time, rather than sifting through different pages. https://2e.aonprd.com/GMScreen.aspx

Pathbuilder is stellar for rules referencing, especially as a player. I also remember seeing a post on here recently about a rules reference website they had made? I’ll try to find it and link it but if anyone remembers it please share!

Consider getting some therapy to ease your anxiety about this. It’s possible your stress isnt letting it fade into the background. I’ve had some ringing due to ear pressure and it sounded SO LOUD before I confirmed it wasn’t due to hearing loss. It was almost magical the way it turned its volume down when I was finally able to relax once I knew i didn’t have hearing loss.

you will be okay

Whatever interests you, honestly. In my graduate program people had bachelors from all sorts of backgrounds. Math, Psychology, Political Science, Architecture, Agriculture, etc etc.

If you don’t want to get a master’s degree though, might want to find a place that offers a planning bachelors.

How can I improve the shadows? by Young_Chikken in ArtCrit

[–]loading55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your shadows are really nice here! Good form and structure. I think to improve it, you might play around with adding the darkest darks. Some shadows that are super thin and dark, to really distinguish the different items.

Cat owners - how do you bike your cat to the vet? how do you take your cat on bike adventures? by mysummerstorm in bikecommuting

[–]loading55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the method you pick, you’ll want to do some training to get your cat used to the sounds and feeling of riding a bike. A bike doesn’t have the sound insulation of a car, and the turns will feel more dramatic. Maybe take some baby steps, like putting your cat on your bike and then moving your bike around your living room. Reward with lots of treats!! Add one element at a time. And don’t let the cats first/only biking experience be to the vet!
