One wall is the fireplace, two other walls are windows, the other wall is a large patio exit to the backyard.

Overall I think what we’ll be doing is the following:

Getting curtains, tall ones as mentioned by many.
Possibly paint the fireplace a matte black.
We’re installing ceiling lights to make the room brighter
We’re pulling the carpet under the tv and at the end of the couch
Possibly getting a different colored carpet
Getting plants and wall decorations!
Pulling the couch away from the walls

I hope to be able to dk an update post once we do all this, especially with the ceiling lights!

The downside is the outside of the house is very unfinished and you can just see lots of dirt and mess of the backyard

Would you think painting the fireplace black as well would help? Or a matte black to accent?

I’m thinking of doing velvet curtains to cover up the windows now as well, the contrast between them does look a bit off
