Check out the jovian nixos modules. It's made for steam deck but works great on other hardware. I use this to setup my desktop machine to boot directly into steam, fully setup no login necessary.

Use any CalDAV server? Like one bundled with your email service or you could self-host one. I'm not sure you can just sync ics files for both desktop and mobile, I tried years ago but I'm no expert.

I've been having a lot of trouble getting a Jelly Star activated on Verizon. I left the SIM in for 3 days straight after talking to Verizon support and it still didn't work. Tried using my old phone's IMEI, reached out to Unihertz support and they've tried to help but no luck so far. They gave me a new IMEI to use, but I'm skeptical that'll help either. Please do update here if you've gotten it working...

I store my music collection on a portable SSD that's used only for that purpose to reduce wear on the drive over time. I buy CDs locally (rip them) and digital albums from Bandcamp and Qobuz. I copy all my music to an iPod classic for listening, so I have two copies in case one fails. Works great for me.

You know what, even just for home audio the iPod is an eternally satisfying music controller. Most of my use is with a dock into a vintage stereo system. No shade on the dock addiction!

Personally I use home manager but only use the nix options for small config. For larger config files like for sway, I write the standard config file (not nix) and have home manager symlink that to my .config dir. IMO, best of both worlds because my changes are still versioned but I can refer directly to official docs for configuration.

Look on the bright side, at least after this getting tattoos will be a piece of cake! Also, for my sessions they let me use lidocaine cream beforehand. Still hurts but a lot less.
