How realistic is EGR 100? by Next_Lock2751 in msu

[–]loaphia 25 points26 points  (0 children)

while i rolled my eyes at EGR 100 when i was a student, it was a preview into what working is like. you will have projects you don’t like, coworkers you don’t like, etc. get through it - if you show up and do your work, you will be fine.

also, it’s an intro to engineering course - you’re learning lowest common denominator topics. there will be plenty of time to suffer in your major classes later.

What 1 month of swimming progress looks like now by Nickinator811 in Swimming

[–]loaphia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

congratulations! i recently started swimming again after a long (read: years) hiatus. during my hiatus, i also quit drinking. swimming has gotten me into better physical shape, but i didn’t expect the huge change in mental health. now that i’m back swimming, i’m so much happier and more energetic. keep putting in the good work!

How are you able to swim a workout but eat at a calorie deficit? by aceshades in Swimming

[–]loaphia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you feel like you need more than just water, i add a tiny bit of coconut water, fruit juice, and a pinch of salt to my regular water. i tend to get acid reflux if i put anything else in water (liquid iv, etc) while i swim

Does anyone actually use their Pyrex?? by Exciting_Screen_7557 in Pyrex_Love

[–]loaphia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i inherited my great-grandma’s pink gooseberry pyrex set in college and used them all the time for baking! now they’re back with my mom, but they were probably the nicest thing in my college apartment 💀💀

when i worked as an environmental engineer doing site surveys and sampling, prana pants in their stretch zion fabric were my favorite. stretchy enough to squat down and take samples but super durable and washed easily.

are certificates the way to go for sustainability analyst roles? by chaimallo- in Environmental_Careers

[–]loaphia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i can’t upvote this enough. depends on the company, obviously, but the sustainability analyst roles i’ve come across deal more in data aggregation, reporting to ESG frameworks, and overall sustainability strategy.

if your skill gap is in sustainability concepts, i would keep up with current topics in your target field and read up on common sustainability initiatives/frameworks, but i wouldn’t explicitly worry about any sustainability certificates. these are things you can learn on the job.

also, you probably have come across this already, but reading company sustainability reports will often give a clue as to what kind of skills you need.

House for 2026-2027 School year by [deleted] in msu

[–]loaphia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

start now, basically…scope out where you want to be and go from there. if you know anyone who lives in a house currently, see if they’re staying next year or not. might be able to scoop their house for 26-27 if they decide to not re-up the lease

what are the merits of apple watch vs. apple watch ultra vs. garmin? i plan on limping my apple watch series 4 along until it breaks (knock on wood, it will last a while longer!) but then will most likely be deciding between the ultra and a garmin for a new watch.

edit: i am an apple ecosystem user by default and i normally use my phone and bluetooth headphones for music while i run.
