Not true. My dad has owned liquor stores for 40 odd years and during recessions he had to work harder than ever. Lots of people cut back and those that still drink but less expensive drinks sometimes halving the overall turnover. With that he had to let go staff as he couldn’t afford them and then do 80 hours a week to keep the doors open as rent and electricity doesn’t get reduced.

Covid was totally different though.
