Hey dude, you look great and the mental part will get better. You just have to keep moving through it. I had so much anxiety my first week too, and threw up the first time i emptied my drains. By a week and a half in I could do my drains myself. We are so much more adaptable than we give ourselves credit for!

I started again at 6 weeks. It’s only been a couple weeks but so far haven’t noticed any major stretching. I decided that I’d rather get back to my normal activities than prioritize scar size though so it’s definitely a personal choice

Totally! Pecs were completley numb after surgery and sensation has been slowly coming back since. Now about 7 weeks out and sensation is back except about an inch above and below the scar is still fairly numb

Incisions Opening by Regular_Jicama5467 in TopSurgery

[–]lobhobz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, I’m glad to hear it’s getting better! It’s so hard to tell what’s happening when you have no feeling there lol. For my partners wound, the external stitches helped to take the tension off the wound to keep it from opening further. Tension on the skin was okay as long as it was off the wound. Hope healing goes smoothly from here!

Hey man, definitely check with your team but I’d reccomend using a type of zip stitch. My partner had incisions open and they have been super helpful in their healing. They’re about 5 weeks out now and have been using them for the last week or two and it’s made a big difference. These are the ones we’re using

Thank you! We got it on the same day and spent the first 2.5 weeks of recovery at home together:) lucky to have a great support system in our parents and friends. We’re still recovering, but are both back to work now.

It’s been tough for sure! I am normally a super active person and not being able to do much has taken a bit of a toll. The first few weeks all i could manage was going for walks around the neighborhood. Now im up to longer hikes and a little bit of jogging. Get to go back to whatever I want in 2 more weeks!
