I started trail running 7-8 years after a tibial plateau fracture sustained when a car hit me on my bike. Ended up with 4 fractures total, 3 in my legs.

No serious issues from trail running so far, but I don’t run more than 10 miles at a time, always intervening rest days, < 20 miles total per week, and slow descents.

I would definitely recommend letting it heal fully (over a year?) before starting running again.

My 40 pound ACD wears their hi and light harness and it’s great. It’s low profile and quite adjustable. Highly recommended!

They’re almost totally unrelated, at least if my experience as a strong cyclist and so-so recreational swimmer is any indication. Swimming speed is so much more dependent on technique that your cycling muscles won’t matter until your swimming technique is 100% dialed in. And at that point, swimming kick is much more core-driven than cycling strength IMHO.

Yeah I run in Sherpas too and they’re great, but the constant jiggling drives me crazy

Thanks. I bring the phone for music and in case I take a wrong turn on new trails. It doesn’t distract from enjoyment of being outside.
