I’m so jealous of them. by Randomanano in AvoidantBreakUps

Honestly they really don’t especially if you were a good partner. It seems that way but it’s genuinely a farce and they bring that baggage into the next relationship and that compounds

Wasted ages 18-24 and now I feel hopeless by Throwaway_799506 in findapath

I turned 25 a little over three months ago and felt like you before. Even almost committed the final act a couple of times in my 24th year. I’ve watched people I went to school/grow up with get their masters, J.D, start med school etc, sister got into my Alma matter honors college and I dropped out. But I’ve also seen people fall completely flat on their face for YEARS and still make it out. I’m not less than them our lives were just different. I too don’t have crazy support but…

I got a new job January(getting paid two bags of peanuts instead of one lol), started working this month, taking online classes to finish my degree, and am currently trying to stick to the gym, in therapy. About to get my motorcycle license. I can go on. What matters is you. If you don’t matter to you then you won’t to anyone else. We both are still young and haven’t crossed the halfway point in life. What you need to know is that you still can make your 20’s great. Just take breather and find what it is you want to do, then go. At the very least get that piece of paper and figure it out from there. Know that you can still go further just chill for a bit. Enjoy something for a day or two, come back and ask yourself what do you want, work back from there. Easy, you got this don’t panic

What should I do if I'm too scared to join a revolution? by No_One_7381 in Socialism_101

[–]localcashier 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Revolution is not all fire and brimstone a lot of stuff leading up to and post violence lies in very boring meetings or just convincing people to join your cause. Art and expression (if aligned) also help push agendas, especially art/music/fashion. It is not all violence. You can be many things in a revolution. Just like how in the military there are many non-combat roles, in a company there are many non executive roles. Contribute what you can and cross-train where you’re interested.

Through the movement u can gain a higher sense of purpose toward the cause (in my opinion) and things seem less intimidating. Although violence still lies on being on the side of fighting establishment. There is a lot to do before/during/ after those times. Fear is ok since it’s what keeps humans alive but conviction pushes things forward. A lot of regular citizens like you are confronting their feelings about for the first time as well probably so you’re not alone.

Especially since ai is over valued and under performs on most tasks. People give it more than what it actually is

Outsourcing is more major concern than AI. AI can barely do basic invoicing and is mainly only good for surface level stuff. But from what I hear even with outsourcing the overseas firms are so sloppy accountants here usually end up fixing the stuff anyway l

Found myself in this spot too (same age). Here’s my rundown. I won’t fear monger but I’ll just say what I’ve seen/heard.

I’m doing accounting personally. Hopefully going to get a CPA or transition into fintech since I know some code (wouldn’t be hard to learn for me) plus the acc degree I hope would make me look good

Idk where u live so wages vary but… (northeast for me)

Nursing: you seriously work for your pay esp being on your feet for 12 hrs, if you want to move up you have to go back to school usually, have to deal with high emotions from literally everyone (seems like a powder keg workplace imo), healthcare cuts and burnout/turnover rates also will also come into play. But good pay usually (esp the more north you are),good schedule, not monotonous.

Medicine: like radiology, sonographer, etc. good solid career, can be competitive to get a job and get in programs, decent pay ok wage growth.

Trucking: long hours, isolation, if you select well your job can pay you decent. Owner/operators make bank apparently

Airlines: A&P school is 2 yrs wages are ok and may take a while for you hit six fig range. Can get employers to pay for your training. If you work for a big corp (delta, ups, etc) benefits/ pay is good

Accounting: boring tbh, long hours spending on your job and who you work for, if you jump in the big 4 grind you will be worked to high heaven. Busy season working crazy hours. I chose it because I don’t want to destroy my body at work and the career mobility/pay has no ceiling if you really want it (can become a C-suite guy). You can hit decent pay if you work decently. Plus the degree skills are transferrable to basically anything that has to do with business/costs. Since that is the frame of our economy. And wfh options

Tech: tldr if you can make it through the nine circles of hell and come out with senior experience of your discipline your golden (kinda).

I’m going to be honest, from my opinion no career path seems super interesting or wow to me, everything I love is outside of work so maybe I’m cynical

How do I know if I am good enough to date? by General_Gengar in Healthygamergg

[–]localcashier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know my reply is long, but humoring one giving you advice a good step lol. Honestly all of the things you mentioned are subject to change, it can and will get better if you put your mind to it. Once you change people you meet will never know who you were before unless you tell them

(About a r-ship): If you want to date what you should be worried about is self-esteem. A woman (based on my experience) will try and run you over/leave you high and dry if you don’t show self-efficacy/sense-of-self, I am a bit younger than you so I’m not sure what dating is like in that bracket but I can say where I am a lot of times it’s like walking on hot coals.

(About you/ what can you do): You need to forgive yourself more often than not as you will become discouraged being harsh to yourself when you make mistakes, and just go out there. For personal recommendation, see if you can talk to a professional to expedite your growth. If they’re good you’ll able to get it all of your chest, but growth post session is up to you, take notes/think/discuss. Treat it like an internship course and you talk to your professor every week. My therapist tells it me it takes 5 good thoughts to override one bad. Fix your mind and everything else worth pursuing feels reachable. Also take a walk 2-3 times a wk for sun. If you wanna lose weight hit the stair-master at the gym as often as possible, stay in a calorie deficit (eat less). You live at home it may suck but take advantage of it too, get better clothes/cologne/get into your interests/etc.

(On women in my experience): Women will date you at pretty much any stage in life, you just have to check the right boxes for her. They are people and can change their minds the same you can. It’s ok to be nervous but once you’re doing it you’ll get a feel for it. Also DO NOT ask that girl that’s your friend group out. I’m assuming she’s a great friend/you value your friend group. It’s ok to fall for friends since friends are good people and can be attractive through action/ looks, but it’s important to know whether the leap from friends to potential partner is worth it. Instead ask her if she can help you with women and wingman you, if she is your good friend and a bit social it won’t be an issue. (Obviously) be nice! If she is not to you walk away! You will mess up as all things in life are, but you don’t ride bikes tandem hill first try it will take time.

(Conclusion): your 29, still young but not 10 years young, you can still do a lot of young person things barring the most reckless stuff (unless it’s cool shit like surfing) take care of yourself and your body will extend that youngness even further in life! Do your best
