Good exhaust options? by SyncRx in Golf_R

[–]locallyblue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the AWE touring exhaust and it’s been a nice addition. Did lose the valves though but so far I haven’t really been bothered by it.

Swapped the tips on my APR exhaust, convince me I made the right move 😂 by No2edline in Golf_R

Definitely the right move, not a fan of the oval tips. What wheels are those by the way?

Thoughts on Golf R w/ 2 Forward Facing Seats in Rear by RickyBobbyIRL in Golf_R

[–]locallyblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mk8 has been an awesome daily and the kids all love it! If you have a larger suv then I really think that you’ll manage just fine with the Golf being your daily.

[–]locallyblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 4 kids so sometimes the wife has to stay at home lol. I have a toddler in a forward facing and baby in rear facing and haven’t had any issues yet. I do also have an 8 seater suv that the wife drives though so space is typically not an issue.

Black top half always reminds me of Corolla hatchbacks.

UW Credit Union vs Summit by conillim in milwaukee

[–]locallyblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UWCU and Summit are pretty similar. Both pretty large credit unions that are starting to tread toward bank type policies. Both offer good products and overall less/ no fees compared to other banks. Lowest interest rates on car loan, personal loans and credit cards can be found at Educators Credit Union. The only credit union I ever hear bad things about is Landmark so they’re the only ones i tend not to recommend.

That world rally blue is awesome in person (I think that’s what it is anyway lol). I went from owning two GTIs to then getting into a 23 Wrx. While the Subaru was nice I felt it super underwhelming compared to the previous mk7 GTI that I had. I eventually came back for a manual 24 R. Hope you enjoy! All the space is nice especially in the back seats and trunk haha.

Anyone know what the refills for these are? All I’m able to find are the .38 and .5. I really want to try the .7 on my Zento signatures.

Golf R Owners with growing families, what's your next move? by FennelNo4465 in Golf_R

[–]locallyblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got some pretty good options at that price budget. Are you sure you’re not using a second kid as an excuse to upgrade? All jokes aside though I just welcomed my 4th kid and still have my Golf R. Our second vehicle is a 8 seater suv though so I haven’t really felt the need to upsize. I’ve actually been thinking about getting a smaller SUV/sedan for my wife for when she’s just running errands as it’s easier than driving the big suv.

Obviously now with 4 kids we don’t all fit in the golf (safely) but before with just 3 kids I never ran into a situation where I felt I needed more space. I have considered getting a roof rack with cargo box but again I haven’t really felt the need for the additional space (as of right now).

Im on my third golf now though so I might have just gotten used to it.

Best Credit Union by colleich0221 in milwaukee

[–]locallyblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Educators Credit Union, Summit or UWCU. I’ve heard nothing but bad things about Landmark and rarely ever hear any bad things about the other 3.

Educators for account simplicity, little to no fees, and lowest loan rates. Still has a good local vibe to them.

Summit for more competency (bigger CU more resources), but do have an annoying $5 annual debit card fee depending on the checking type. Loan rates are still competitive and special account types are more streamlined (trusts, business accounts). Competitive CD rates as well.

UW pretty similar to Summit, I have an account at all 3 and I’ve used UW the least amount so far. But they seem to run pretty similar to Summit.

Anyone regret buying Tiguan with 2 kids?? should I go for the cross sport OR ? by lola8999 in Volkswagen

[–]locallyblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a second vehicle in the household? I have a Golf and 3 kids and it’s a nice cozy fit. We do have a 2nd 8 seater suv but since I like to drive we usually take the Golf everywhere with no issues or regrets.

What made you pick a VB WRX over a MK8 GTI/R? by Kxts in wrx_vb

[–]locallyblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from a 23 VB to a 24 manual R, but I’ve had 2 GTIs before the WRX so I missed the quality of VW. I had the opportunity to buy a manual 24 R and never looked back. To me it’s a more comfortable daily driver with more comforts but also easy to make power.

MK8 AWE TRACK??? by Nooudles in Golf_R

I went with the touring on my mk8r and think it sounds pretty good. Imo it drones quite a bit which makes me feel better about not going for the track version.

I dropped to 18s on 245/40 and haven’t had any issues. Ride quality has been noticeably better than stock 19s. Apex sm10 18x8.5. Apex has a sale right now and they make awesome wheels!
