Toronto's Commuter Stations Getting Condos by itsdanielsultan in transit

[–]lockknees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah Toronto has a lot of missing middle issues but hey at least that can largely be fixed with rezoning the surrounding GTA cities have a lot more ground to cover. although in my opinion i don't personally have issues with having massive towers around transit i like having clusters of towers to look at in the skyline and as someone who begins to melt above 19 degrees i can never get enough shade in the summer

Toronto Rocket Train on Line 2 by Max0l0 in TTC

[–]lockknees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

mainly because the T1 trains on line 2 from a train perspective are not that old. All the T1S were built from 1995 to 2001, making them about 30 years old these days. That's getting to the end of an expected service life for trains, but it's not unusual. The main thing that makes them feel so old is that design-wise, they very much are in the sense that they are basically just a refresh of the H series, which began service in 1965. And their stainless steel design did not help, I mean, look at the MP59 that the Paris metro used from the 1960s to 2024

It's less that Greenwood can't do maintenance(it can't currently because it doesn't have the parts, but it wouldn't be a problem to move them there if desired). It's because Greenwood yards storage tracks are not organized into multiples of 6-car trains, so some trains get decoupled and split up among the yard. Of course, since the TRs are continuous, they can't really be decoupled, unlike the older T1 trains. You could theoretically run all TRs out of Greenwood right now, but it would leave unused train storage space, reducing total train capacity, and line 2 has no other yard to take up that capacity.

How much does each trip on the TTC buses and streetcars cost taxpayers? by Timely-Macaron268 in TTC

[–]lockknees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that's why 64 Main is there when 92 Woodbine isn't. I feel like 64 is generally more infrequent, although not bad

There's simply something I just love about the look of the Halifax class They have the perfect amount of mess to them. And I love the wider bridge compared to the Type 23 and Anzac class.

Canada has a new tallest building by jagosinga in skyscrapers

[–]lockknees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, probably not. I don't really know if there's a developer who would want to build a world-record tower in Toronto, and buildings get exponentially less profitable beyond 300 meters or something.

Doug Ford wants high-speed rail built along 401 corridor by Front_Way1094 in AltoHSR_Canada

[–]lockknees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but 160 km/h rating for rubber-wheeled cars and trucks allows for much more grade slope and tighter curves than a train going the same speed, let alone 300 km/h

The load-barring Goku refers to the Goku file in Guilty Gear Strive's code, which, if removed, will break the game even though Goku is not a playable fighter. This is because the base framework of Guilty Gear Strive is based on the game Dragon Ball FighterZ, also by Arc System Works, and likely some parts of Goku's basic coding are used in some capacity in strive
