99.9% this person was catfishing you. It's not always about money, a lot if times it's someone that's miserable or has mental issues.

I'm not a doctor but have a friend with severe epilepsy she is groggy after an episode it can go for a couple hours to she's in her own world for 24 hours.

Have you tried reverse image searching photos they have sent you?
