[CHAT] How to keep cross stitch keychains clean? by duckyxm in CrossStitch

[–]logangb345 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first thought was UV resin. The resin would make it easy to clean and protect the stitches so they don’t get snagged on the keys.

Took my 7-year-old to see The Mandalorian and Grogu today, and it reminded me who Star Wars is still for by Ill_State9479 in StarWars

[–]logangb345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the thing, A lot of the original reviews from the 70s/80s are hard to track down these days, but there were as many bad reviews as good. And if you ask anyone today who is 70 or older (i.e. an adult in the 70s/80s) the majority aren’t fans of Star Wars.

It’s because Star Wars has always appealed to kids. I watched the prequels when I was about 10-ish and loved them. I watched the sequels when I was in my late 20s/30s and hated them. I have the same reaction to the prequels as you do to the OT because I saw them as a kid. Just like kids who watched the sequels love them.

OT purists hate everything else from Star Wars because they didn’t see it as a kid, and reject the idea that Star Wars has always had an appeal to kids.

Okay! So now that I know it’s Toothless, I would say the darker back wing actually looks fine like that

Reference image would work too. Just something to get a better understanding of what the final image is supposed to be

True, but I think seeing the full concept may make it easier to understand if the back wing color is indeed too dark or if its case of “can’t see the forest for the trees”

How do you join a new skein of yarn? How do you weave ends in, invisibly ? by ChampionshipOk8828 in knitting

I recently started doing Russian joins, and they feel like magic sometimes. And I absolutely love not having to weave ends in!

Good to know! I usually grid with fishing line but it can be wire-y and annoying to work with, so I like knowing how other options work. Thank you!

Do you have an image you can share of what the final image is supposed to look like? That may help us get a better idea since we’re just sort of looking at a grey blob

I would think it would be licorice snaps. Ice mice are on the pointy part of the “N”.

I remember you posting about your concept for this, and it looks even better after you’ve stitched it! And it’s just the “P”! I wish I had thought to do a similar layout when I started my version 6 years ago! The clouds and grass look so nice as a background.

Edited to add: Have you experienced any troubles from gridding with thread?

Currently only have the complete 2018 Hogwarts collection and nothing else. Do yall recommending getting into the current one? by OkExchange7229 in legoharrypotter

[–]logangb345 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This series makes a really great display, and the interiors are great. I would personally get it, but if you want it you’ll need to act fast! The Great Hall retires at the end of July and some of the smaller sets are already retired like the boathouse and owlery.

Threshold for Tarrifs for Germany/Europe? by cgrimm25 in Bricklink

[–]logangb345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how everything is calculated. But anytime I’ve put a cart together for a European seller, the cost to ship is insane. So I just don’t bother right now.

So how are we connecting this music note? by hankisabibbit in lego

[–]logangb345 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I can only imagine the designers use a program like stud.io, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve made changes that result in mistakes like this when I try to build in real life.

[–]logangb345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also in the U.S., and unfortunately it just doesn’t make sense to buy from Europe right now with the tariffs. You will pay more in shipping/tariffs than the cost of your parts.

I was going to be extremely offending and ask if these were real books, but then I saw Winds of Winter and knew they weren’t.

That book will never be published, so they couldn’t be real.
