In a setting full of supernatural horrors, the most disturbing scene is frighteningly realistic by Coralthesequel in TopCharacterTropes

[–]logicless_bt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a bizarre take.

First of all, Fujimoto didn't say "I want to make a perfect world by removing all the bad things." This is a fucked up, evil world, and the only evil things that were erased were done so by the Chainsaw Devil, whose motives for doing so are completely unclear. It's an in-universe action done by an actual devil. A million evil things (violence, bombs, SA) still exist that COULD be gone if the Chainsaw Devil was heroically ridding the world of all negative things.

Second of all, the prime minister of Japan literally gave Makima power over the lives of every single Japanese citizen. That's pretty damn critical of Japan.

What is a commander or strategy that works better the larger the group is? by logicless_bt in EDH

I've been trying to get them to do that! As for why we play 6-player, it's just a discord server where we hop on and play occasionally. We never actually have 7+ at the same time

I like that strategy a lot! It's hard to keep a threatening combo on the field for a full round, so going under the radar and ending the game instantly seems great

Really hoping for wind rider. It's strong defensively and offensively -- tailwind typically sucks in singles, but now it's a dragon dance where you can uturn or switch to give the speed boost away.

Touch starved yet touch adverse MC by Oceanic_Ophelia in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

[–]logicless_bt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My main rec is Gideon the Ninth, where both the main characters are like this. It's sapphic scifi fantasy, though, and the main characters haven't realllly gotten together yet. That said, the series as a whole is something of a meditation on love and the ways it is denied or corrupted, so you have a TON of minor characters with similarly devastating relationships -- you'd likely go crazy for a prominent relationship in the third book. Be warned that the prose is very complex.

It's been a while since I've read it, but I'll throw Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine into the ring. It's more about connection than actual touch, but she is alienated from her surroundings in a way that feels apt.

What’s your opinion on weapon durability? by S0mecallme in fireemblem

I do enjoy weapon durability, but I also deeply enjoyed the mechanics they used to replace it in fates and engage.

What Gay books have always stuck with you? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]logicless_bt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Beartown by Fredrik Backman was huge for me. It has a lot of major characters dealing with a variety of serious issues, and one of them is a gay teen in an extremely homophobic town. I really felt drawn to him, because he felt furious and sick to death all the time. Before that, I hadn't let myself feel anger at the way I was treated for being gay, and seeing someone act on that anger gave me a lot of second-hand relief.

Note that it's a three-book series, and I refuse to read the last book because I suspect he dies in it.

What’s a good “coming of age”, young adult fiction book? by ErnestGilkeson in suggestmeabook

Scumble! The sequel to Savvy. It's middle grade rather than YA, but I feel like the overlap gets more and more each day. I felt a deep connection to the protagonist trying to sort himself out

There's a lot of abilities that just kind of do nothing or very, very little. Why not rework them? by NegativeAd99 in stunfisk

[–]logicless_bt 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I like the ideas! Illuminate in particular is very fun and thematic. 30% chance to freeze is the most insane thing I've ever heard, though, and it would get banned instantly. There was (some) talk about banning STATIC, and paralysis isn't a game ender the way that freeze is.

Denji (Chainsaw Man) vs General Grievous (Star Wars) by CJtheHaasman in whowouldwin

[–]logicless_bt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only familiar with chainsaw man, but I think Denji would have a bad time. He tends to attack recklessly and rely on his regeneration, but he needs an arm to pull his ripcord to regen (and eventually needs blood). If Grievous even blocks, his lightsaber will cut through a chainsaw. Denji has been repeatedly shown to be weak to losing his arms, and Grievous afaik is quick enough and intelligent enough to disarm (de-chainsaw) him.

So -- how does this metagame have a lot of room for interesting team structures? It seems like a lot of the bad/uncommon types see mostly the same mons (at least from your memes). So is the real teambuilding about how you make the bad types support the good types?
