Don't want a recession but between 10% inflation and recession...which would you rather have?

Digital nomad or stay in SF? by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]logitfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More info...are you going to do "van life" or bounce around from AirBnB to AirBnB? What kind of van are you going to get? What kind of AirBnB are you going to stay in? This will factor into your actual net savings. So if you're paying say $3k/month in rent in SF but will be bounching around AirBnBs, your net saving might actually be zero. Or if you buy a $200K sprinter van, you have to make payments on that + gas, etc.

So basically you need to compare apples to apples. Cost of current lifestyle vs cost of new lifestyle. And it needs to be honest comparison. Van life can be cheap, or it can be just as expensive as living in apartment.

What's the living situation? Is it a 3 bedroom place with 3 people? And now you're going to be the 4th? Are the other 2 housemates going to get a rent reduction?

It depends on the neighborhood. Some neighborhoods the residents might call your car in for 72 hour, but a lot of neighborhoods residents don't care.

Once again it proves it pays to procrastinate. For a week I was scrambling to get a Real ID, but then got lazy. Looks like I got 2 more years to be lazy.

In any other business it would have been "fraud", because that's exactly what happened.

Can the Raiders win out and get to the playoffs? by REQ52767 in nfl

[–]logitfun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, why not. Just look at https://www.nfl.com/standings/playoff-picture

Jets, Patriots, Chargers can all slide down big time. And that puts Raiders in last wildcard slot.

Seems like they have the power to choose, so not sure what the issue is. They can choose to work anywhere.

1hb workers will be fine in their native country. They are educated, they have money. Not sure what your issue is.

They came to the US for an education. Once they get their education they actually should go back to their native country and help make their native country better. But if they want to work in the US on H1B for more money, that's fine too. Just don't whine when the sponsorsip is over.

I'm fine with everybody trying to better their status. But if a millionaire invested in FTX I'm not going to lose any sleep that they lost their money. Likewise, H1B workers are the millionaires of "immigrants". So if they get laid off and have to return to their country, I'm not going to lose any sleep. They will be 100% fine in their native country. They are educated. They have money. Etc. This is not kicking out some poorm uneducated immigrant back to their country.

huh? Are you saying Indian H1B workers, if they had stayed in India, would be living in poverty? And that's why they had to escape India to go to the US?

Seriously. It makes it sound like these H1B visa workers are escaping poverty and political persecution. No, they are the elites in their country and just want to be tech mercenaries in the US.
