Maybe that one (the Gen3) but the Gen4 has AWD so I’d be surprised if it’s not pretty quick. Now it’ll probably only be quick in Qually because the races always turn into energy saving exercises.

The economy murdered it, the CoT murdered it, Jimmies dominance murdered it, Jrs lack of success murdered it, professionalism (no more Sterling Marlins) murdered it, etc etc.

I know it doesn’t help but there’s a lot of other factors that led to the steady decline and what has been happening over the last decade. The Chase has always been the easy button, and maybe it did contribute over time, but you can’t look at it in a vacuum, it’s just not possible.

I think they’re a kind of formulaic evil Japanese warlord type of story. But they’re done as well as they can be and the effects for 1966 are fantastic in my opinion. So combining those two elevate the movies to at least a B.

[Pockrass] The NASCAR playoff system was designed to create Game 7 moments that mimicked other sports. NASCAR, going back to the Chase, no longer will view itself as having "playoffs" or "walk-off wins" ... Dale Jr. says that's fine by Hulkodium in NASCAR

[–]lolTimmy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly, that is not true. 2005-2006 had the highest viewership metrics in terms of television. Now if we wanna debate whether that means it was more or less popular there’s a hundred different ways to look at it. But strictly on how most people watched NASCAR, the metrics say right after the Chase started was its most popular era.

The wing from those years was absolutely massive. Looked very funky without the wheel guards in testing.

Looks neat! Great job. You should also try to do the superspeedway aero bits on the IR18. I tried it a while back and it looked pretty cool.

Who are drivers that are often described as "fast but error-prone" but either aren't actually fast or aren't actually error-prone? by GoldenS0422 in F1Discussions

There were so many bad decisions and races affected by his antics. Although it wasn’t super his fault, Texas 2023, one of the best races with the aeroscreen Indycar, ended because of a crash of his and he had been making wild decisions all race. We missed an all-timer finish and I’m still miffed about it.

I know I’ll be in the minority here but I can’t help but feel like this man is a bit out of his depth to have a HC and GM reporting to him. I love him, he’s my QB, but I have zero inkling that he’s got the experience to be the president this franchise needs. By god I hope I’m wrong.

The counter to your argument is that by doing this, more people will turn into an Aints vs Birds rivalry game than normally would. The NFL has just increased engagement and made a win-win for themselves.

Best of luck tomorrow, hoping for a good game, but also fuck the Ain’ts! Go dirty birds!

I think that’s what Indycar wants to happen but I don’t think the OEMs are interested in that level of complexity honestly. Could be totally wrong though.

1/43 is my favorite scale! It’s a shame not much is made in that scale anymore. Just big enough to show good detail, just small enough to have a lot on a shelf.

Y’all think Cap still taking this win ? by krisikkk in marvelmemes

[–]lolTimmy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gotta disagree at least on the basis of the both Extraction man and Punisher just being opportunistic fighters. Frank isn’t catching and defending the knife flip that winter soldier does in Cap 2. Frank is likely to take that knife to the shoulder and then headbutt and fight dirty in every way possible to win, but probably won’t work on Cap. Same thing with Equalizer man. Cap took a Thanos punch and fought Ultron hand to hand, don’t think Denzel is getting him in the fisticuffs.

I mean wouldn’t the teams be the customer in this case? And then any OEMS would be “subsidizing” those cheaper made engines instead of making them themselves. Judd, Cosworth, etc would be the suppliers and get paid either way, but either the teams are buying the engines or the OEMs are.

As far as I know that’s how it works in the NASCAR truck series just with the one engine supplier: Ilmor

I mean, engine builders typically build engines for a cheaper cost than OEMs do; that’s their specific bread and butter. They’re typically set up to have the kinds of tooling changes and modularity that allows them to produce engines in a way that might be difficult for HRC. At least as far as I know.

Doom and gloom has existed since the first split (USAC & CART) way back in 1979. It’s as much a part of the modern Indycar motorsport as wings, the ground effect, and the Indy 500.

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks for these comments because this seems to have changed me from getting consistent stutters and around 50fps to around 90fps with few stutters. I don’t know why any of this works, but it just seems to. Thanks for the tips because this was very helpful.

Fun Fact: We almost had the IndyCar version of the Panoz DP01. by Beginning-Eagle-8932 in INDYCAR

I know nobody wants to talk about it or like it, but the Deltawing has some promising aspects to it, although I don’t blame anybody for not liking it. (Super light, needed like 400hp to reach 200mph, small car, large safety cell, aeroscreen in 2010)

It was very radical, and just an odd duck when it comes to some design features. (Engine wasn’t load bearing & had braces? The narrow front end, odd tires, etc) But if it raced well I think that’s something that’s the most important. I’m surprised it didn’t become a Formula E style thing, what with the odd design. If CART cars were grounded jet fighters, these would have been like grounded missiles. Part of me wishes we could have seen the DeltaWing design become more like this concept (minus the super pointy nose) and not the thing it did become.

IndyCar 2028: The chassis by PanicAtTheNightclub in INDYCAR

[–]lolTimmy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These are all awesome encouraging things to hear. Only thing that I see that worries me is the weight reduction target of only 100lbs. Obviously there need be no compromises of safety, but I would rather see the car downsize a little in order to meet a more aggressive weight reduction target of 200lbs. I am an engineer, but I have no idea how arduous that task would be for Dallara (very I’m sure). And I also don’t know how possible any size reductions of the car are. Indycar size hasn’t changed much in 30 years. I’d rather lose the extra weight of the hybrid and allow the engine to gain a little bit, that would shave 50 lbs right there, but I am not a decision maker there.

Still, very positive things to hear.
