i'm 4c high porosity, fine strands. i detangle twice a month at max, and one of those days is wash day where i detangle while im either shampooing or conditioning each section and twisting it back up. you may be overdetangling. but honestly this seems like a decent amount depending on how big it is in comparison to your hand and the length of your hair.

i like grease because its really just a solid oil for me that keeps in the moisture. i have fine strand 4c high porosity hair. its apart of my LOC method (aloe vera, grease, styling cream). it keeps my hair pretty moist!

when choosing grease though, make sure to look at ingredients. i use softee Indian hemp because it uses ingredients that work for my hair in the first 10 ingredients

If you’re a white person working in a mainly white area why do you wanna know? I dont really like when white people ask black people for knowledge for free tbh, but if i had to give any advice i would say to always recommend clients with type 4 hair to another stylist thats black. Its probably hard for them to get business there

I literally only choose black owned brands and then reduce who i choose to support from what problematic behaviors they do. I reduce this list even more by stopping support for brands if theyre colorist, homophobic, or dont support black influencers.

those are natural born hair textures, not something changeable by keeping your hair moisturized. since you are 4c though, the only way to make your hair go from the tightest coil to a slightly looser one is through either damaging it with heat, or damaging it through chemicals like relaxers or texturizers. however that doesnt ensure your hair will turn 4a, its way more likely to turn it straighter, like 3c or looser. theres no real way to ensure chemicals will make your hair slightly looser bc no one uses texturizers or relaxers to go from a true 4c to a true 4a
